Volume 2 - The First Word

By RaidenDAWG5, PSH Admin
Volume 2, Issue 1

I'll begin my second volume of The Woof with the following word: I.

And that's the first word, here's the complete thought to go along with it.

I WAS (kinda) RIGHT!!!

Ok, seriously, go back to my big 20 item list in last week's column, and most of them are bang on accurate (especially the Andy Reid one, he's still, well, Andy Reid).

All joking aside, the one I'm most proud of is the following: Charlie Frye is a Brown.

An aside note, he seems to be loving it just as much as I am. He grew up a Browns fan (same here), was a huge fan of one Bernie Kosar (as am I), and his dream growing up was to be the starting QB for the Cleveland Browns (my dream too!).

Here's the difference though: he'll get his shot. Charlie Frye is the new Quarterback of the Future (QoF for short) for the Cleveland Browns (Best Team Ever, BTE for short), and has been annointed by moi, TNBF (The Next Brett Favre), which I will use to indicate when I'm talking about Charlie whenever I'm too lazy to write his name out, OR perhaps as end punctuation to a sentenceTNBF

Ok, MAAAYBE the last one's a stretchTNBF

Moving right along, bottomline, we got our quarterback (although 31 picks lower than I had predicted), we got a helluva receiver in Braylon Edwards, and best of all, did I mention the Browns are being mentioned as having among the best drafts in the league? I'll discuss that more later.

Raiden's Non-Football Thought of the Week

Electioneering is hard, apparently counting online votes is harder. The results from the election I'd been working on the last few weeks, the same election that ended last Thursday, will be announced tommorrow.

Outside the Dawg Pound

ODP returns to the column after a monthlong hiatus!

I'll focus on ye olde draft a bit today. I personally feel Arizona of all teams had the best draft. They picked up in the first five rounds five guys that at one point or another in the last year I had going in or near the first round. Amazing job by Dennis Green and company.

As much as I hate to do this, I gotta give props to the Cincinnati Bengals for having an excellent draft. Not as good as ours, but still very solid. Pollack's a good player, and in fact, the Browns reportedly wanted him as well.

The Browns Draft

3: Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan: Setting aside the fact that he's from Michigan, this guy was the conscensus top player in a weak draft. If he can play like he did against Texas 12-14 Sunday's a year for the next ten years or so, I will be a very happy Raiden.

Brodney Pool, S, Oklahoma: Solid pickup in Round 2, this guy's going to be patrolling the middle of the turf at Cleveland Browns Stadium for a long time. Apparently Eagles owner Jeffrey Lauria (whose team picked next at 35) uttered some expletives when he found out we were taking Pool. Gotta love it when our front office is taking guys that tick off the teams behind us rather than ones that make them laugh (are you listening Butch Davis?).

Real quick, the rest of the picks are solid players. I've already gone in depth on Charlie, and I think the other guys will pan out just nicely. A Grade A draft by Phil Savage & Company, hopefully the first of many.

Wow, I don't think I've ever said the phrase "Grade A draft" in reference to one of our drafts before...

The Final Thought

This week's final thought is one of reflection, solumn gratitude, and humbleness.

WE HAVE TNBF AND YOU DON'T!!! HAHA!!!

Just kidding, except we do, and you don't I'm sure I'll be harping on this more in Volume 5 after Charlie makes his first pro bowl.

Until next week, bark loud Dawg Pound, bark loud.
