Another QB chip is off the table, and the Seahawks win the Matt FLynn sweepstakes. Smart move? What do we really know about Flynn at this point? Was he worth all the talk he was given? What happens now with Tarvaris JAckson and Charlie Whitehurst?

wise...like a miniature Buddha...covered in hair.
I think this is a great and very strong move by Pete Carroll and the Seahawks.
First of all, Charlie Whitehurts re-signed with the Chargers a day or two ago so he was out of the picture to begin with. Secondly who gives a **** what happens with Tarvaris Jackson at this point?
The Seahawks wanted to be in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes but were unable to establish themselves in the eye of Peyton's interest. You've got all of these other QB's out there in limbo waiting to see what happens after the Manning chip finally falls, so rather than end up in a rat race for the remaining guys after the dust settles the Seahawks went out there and secured the guy who many had pegged as "the next best option." It's a 3 year deal so their cart isn't hitched for long if it doesn't pan out, Flynn's young and he's got potential. Seattle wasn't in the running for any of the hot draft prospects at QB.
This is the best thing that could have happened to Seattle. I think it was a fabulous move. Well played Pete, well played.

They got him for a very favorable contract, so I think this undoubtedly is a great move. Considering the Redskins just traded away the farm for an unproven QB, and the Cards the same last year, I think the hawks did well for themselves here. If he doesn't work out, they love a few mil and nothing more.

Whitehurst was actually GM John Schneider's guy. It's been well documented that Schneider was infatuated with Whitehurst since his (Schenider's) days in Green Bay and Whitehurst was still at Clemson. Schneider made the trade, Pete just went along with it.

And just how is Flynn anymore proven that any of these other unproven guys?? He had one breakout game against a team (The Lions) who had one of the worst defenses all season long. Their secondary was atrocious all season, and Flynn was throwing to a team who had some of the best skill players in the league.
I'm not saying that Flynn can't have success or anything, but I'd say that Flynn is just as unproven as any one of these rookies coming into the league.
