Nah, more people bring up Tebow because his name is Tebow.
wise...like a miniature Buddha...covered in hair.
Yeah, but he's only had what, close to 16 games compared to how many for Smith?

WR is not a position of leadership on a team like QB is.....besides, more than one WR can play at a time, so it's not like he lost his job.
This thread was made before the reports of the 49ers expressing interest in Manning, but yeah that sucks too. He has the best season of his career and yet here he is.

There is nothing that sucks about it at all. Like I said, these players all know where they stand. They're grown men working in a league that is run as a business. You're either replaceable or you're not, and if you are then you've gotta be prepared for somebody to come in and try to take your job at any time. No one was crying for Jason Campbell last year when he lost his job due to injury and is now a backup on someone's bench because of it. No one cried for Drew Bledsoe when it happened to him and he was a probowler.
Alex Smith is a free agent, he's in discussions with the Dolphins. Best season of his career or not he's had a mediocre career at best and even though he had a great season last year we don't know what fueled that yet. Smith may be the very definition of a system QB, we won't know until we see what happens next. Either way, he isn't irreplaceable. The 49ers drafted Colin Kaepernick last year too, should they have consulted Smith on that? No one cried for Mcnabb when he didn't get consulted on the Kevin Kolb draft selection, and Mcnabb was a franchise QB at the time. Did Tom Brady get to weigh in when the Pats drafted a QB last year? ...NOPE.

Apples to oranges. There’s a huge difference between what we’re talking about and the above. Those guys were drafted to maybe be eventual replacements. That will happen to every QB in the league at sometime near the end of their careers.
That would almost make sense if it weren’t hypocritical. If this is all a business and nothing sucks about it, then why argue that Matt Leinart was getting the shaft in Arizona? Leinart wasn’t an entrenched starter and because it’s a business, it doesn’t matter what Whisenhunt told him or what criteria Whisenhunt used to choose Derek Anderson over him. You could try and argue that the scenarios are different, but at the end of the day, both were business decisions. Leinart was no different than the guys I just mentioned above. He didn’t play at a high level, yet you stuck up for him when you felt management was being unfair.

LOL! So you, the guy making the loyalty argument, are claiming that a team should be required to consult with a mediocre/bad player when they plan to bring in someone new to his position but they shouldn't be required to make a similar consultation when bringing in a potential replacement for a franchise player who has been the face of their franchise for a decade? In your original post or one shortly thereafter weren't you barking about QB being a position of leadership and how it should be respected? Some here would question whether or not a bad QB is looked upon as a leader to begin with but we KNOW most franchise QB's are.
I think you've gone so far off the track here that you've lost control of your own contradictions.
Would you please point out to me where the "upgrade" is in regards to the Leinart situation? What sucked about the Leinart situation (if only to prove to you that my comments aren't hypocritical) is that there was no definitively clear answer as to why Leinart was cut. Was it personal or was it performance based? If it was performance based where is the upgrade they achieved at the QB position? The Cardinals didn't exactly bring in Peyton Manning to take Leinarts job now did they? Had they made a big move like that with a clear upgrade I'd be of the same opinion I am now. The Cards didn't do that though, if anything they likely downgraded the position the year they let Leinart go in favor of Derek Anderson and a couple of rookies. The move made no sense.
