One more nail in the Texas coffin. I want to see them get shut out of a conference and have to go independent. Texas destroyed the Big 12 and I hope they pay for it. Big 10 picks up Missouri and ND and is done. Pac 12 also grabs OK St and the rest go to the MWC.

In spite of what seem like some mediocre pick ups in Colorado and Utah, the PAC 12 negotiated a pretty big TV contract, so they have some juice right now.
If Oklahoma does end up in the PAC-12, Oklahoma State could end up there, but I would not be surprised if the PAC 12 also at least looked into BYU.
At this point, super conferences may be the way to go in order to blow up that whole BCS thing. If that's what it will take, then I'm for it

First of all Texas will NOT go independant. They dont' want to, and DeLoss Dodds is adament about doing it under his watch.
And Second they will NOT get shut out of these conference realignments(and I'm surprised by the venom in your post Hawkeye).
Texas did NOT ruin the conference, and isn't the "Mean Ol' Bully" they've been made out to be.
Remember the whole "Pac 16" was a hairs breath away from happening last year, with Texas completely okay with being one of the members of that conference BEFORE the LHN came into being.
Baylor didn't want to get left in the cold, and flexed it's muscle(it does have some power politically and surprising reserve of cach flow as well) and A&M threatening to go the SEC(something OU and Texas didn't want), so the Pac 16 deal was nixed to make those schools happey(seems like Texas was actually being a team player more than people think).
Of course Texas jumps at the ESPN's offer to have their own Network, as would ANY team(even those in the Big 10 before there was a Big Ten Network). Don't fall for the B.S. that the Longhorn Network is what ran all these teams off.
Texas A&M is the one coming out smelling like crap here, since they basically were the main factor the Pac 16 move was shut down last year, claimed to be happy last year, then all of sudden pulled this crap.
Now Texas is more than willing to join OU in the Pac or join another conference, and even willing to negotiate how the LHN works, or to not take a full/any Conference Network payout since they have the LHN(seems pretty damn fair that they wouldn't expect more than that, unlike ND who would want part of the Conference Payout PLUS their own TV Deal/Network).
And Nebraska ran away from the Big 12 becuase they didn't have the power, or push their weight around like they thought they would when the Conference was formed.
Remember, when the Big 12 was formed, Texas AND OU were mediocre programs. A&M, Nebraska, Colorado and KState thought they'd run the conference for decade, both on and off the field. They weren't expecting the South, and two historic programs to rise from the ashes and take over.
Add to that the audasity of the Horns to beat the Huskers in EVERY DAMN GAME THEY PLAYED(9-1 record over their Big 12 careers), and it's easy to see why they ran away to the Big 10.
I mean I get why it's easy to crap all over Texas and blame them for everyone's problems(and I fully admit Texas is NOT blameless at all), but Texas isn't the Big Problem, or even the main problem. Jealousy and lack of clear direction and ability by these other schools is to blame as well.
From one #88 to another...
The sticking point is the TV network. If the Big Ten were interested in Texas for example, they are not going to just say go ahead and just use your network and that's fine. That is a huge loss of potential revenue for the BTN, SEC Network, or PAC 12. And Texas is not going to give up that network after just signing this lucrative agreement with ESPN.
Every bit of this thing with Texas is about the TV rights. If they want to keep their own network, they are either going to have to salvage the Big 12 which is bending over to let them have it or go Independent.
As for Nebraska... maybe power had something to do with it, but the primary reason was straight cash. $22 million per year from the Big Ten just in TV versus around $13 million from the Big XII if memory serves and a guaranteed even split right down the middle with everyone else when it eventually is renegotiated.

I wasn’t trying to imply that it would hurt them. I would just like to see them on an island. However, being an independent means that there are certain criteria that you must meet to get a BCS invite (see ND) rather than just winning your conference. A conference can have a down year, but if you win it, you still get to go.
You’ve known me longer than just about everybody here and yet you’re surprised now by my hatred of Texas? Who really knows how close the Pac 16 was to fruition? Maybe they weren’t as close as we all thought. Texas killed the Big 12. Period. Say what you want about Nebraska, but the fact is they were smart enough to know that the deal they were getting in the Big 12 was unfair. The money was all weighted towards Texas and to a lesser extent, Oklahoma. Other conferences like the Big 10 split it evenly. It only makes sense that Nebraska would want a fair deal. There’s no way that Texas was going to go for a conference TV deal where they only got 1/10th of the airtime. The smaller schools caved and gave Texas what they wanted because that was better than anything they would get if the Big 12 dissolved and they had to join a non-BCS conference. Now Texas has their own network and the lion’s share of the conference revenue and to hell with everyone else.
You expect us to believe that Nebraska and Colorado left because they felt they could compete better in the Big 10 and Pac 10? It’s all about getting a fair deal, which they weren’t getting in the Big 12.

I'm not surprised by your hated of Texas Hawk, but the venom you had in that last post was more than I've seen before, (I've seen you go off, but you're normally more even in your bashing than that), lol.
It's all good though. This is a very touchy subject, and obviously many sides to this.
Like I said in my post, I fully understand, and accept that the Texas is definately part of the blame. I would just like to point out that A&M has been crying and moaning about the Longhorn Network when they were asked by Texas if they wanted to join together to form a "Lone Star Network" several years ago, and not only declined, but told Texas there was NO way it would work. They came back 12-14 months ago asking if they could "get in" on the TV Deal, but Texas and their Bidders were already knee deep in negotiations, and they were left out.
A&M and NU are the main reasons everyone is hating on Texas because the "bully" ran them out of the conference, when that's simply not the case. NU was jealous of Texas power and success(particularly against Nebraska), and Texas A&M is obviously suffereing from little brother complex and a hypocrit as well.
And Peter, yes Money is the driving force behind this, more than anything else. But make no mistake, Nebraska was tired of being in the ""2nd teir" of the Big 12, and think they'll have a better chance of being a top notch program in the Big 10.
From one #88 to another...

The rumor is, Oklahoma jumps, they take Oklahoma State, Texas, and Texas Tech with them. LHN becomes Pac 10 Network - Texas.
Texas A&M jumps to the SEC.
At which point, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Mizzou, and Iowa State are screwed. KU and KSU can get picked up for their basketball prowess, I'd guess the Big Ten. And who knows for the other three geographically?
