I agree...his defenses haven't been top ranked and all, but when you look at the players he's had to work with, and how his defenses have improved from one year to the next, and it'd be a good hire.
Plus, he's the opposite of the strait laced Jason Garrett...and that's not a bad thing.

I don't know how I feel about him. He's been in the league a long time, but the jury is still out on him for me. I think back to the days when he was in Oakland, and he didn't have the best personel in the world to work with, but he didn't have the worst either.. But he WAS dealing with the Raiders not being able to decide on a 3-4 or a 4-3 for a while there.
I'm partial to guys with the last name Ryan but the fact is that Rob may be overrated. The guy hasn't been a coordinator for a highly ranked defense in the NFL. His best NFL success came as a linebackers coach for the Patriots. They say he wants to be a head coach, maybe he's better suited for that role.

I think this is a terrific move for the Cowboys. Rob Ryan did a lot with a little the last two years in Cleveland, and he'll have a great deal of talent to work with in Dallas. Very good move.

I think it's a good hire too. I'm hoping that they can make some serious improvement under him next year.
You had a chance........until we stepped on the field.
