I have Laurenitis kept from last season, which is very unusual for me. Experience has taught me that a stud one year can vanish the next - Mario Williams and Justin Tuck were sure things last year that didn't help their owners. MLBs can be more reliable, but there's 32 (more really, with all the 3-4s) MLBs who have broadly similar value. I usually end up taking guys off waivers throughout the year to start at IDP and don't feel it harms me much. To me, the most valuable players (assuming you must start DL, LB and DBs) are #1 - good MLBs on bad defenses, especially if the team also has a bad offense; #2 - good strong safeties on the same sorts of teams and #3 - DEs who get tackles as well as sacks.

Glad you enjoyed your IDP season Tex, and I'm glad you found my advice helpful. Now you'll just need to try a 2QB league

The ESPN fantasy draft podcasts have been pretty good, but they had one last night that covered - just a little bit - non-standard league formats. I thought Christopher Harris did a good job of understanding the peculiarities of the different formats and offering advice on how to structure the rules in those leagues and how to approach your draft.

Oh yeah, the MLB's definitely seemed like the way to go. That and some of the OLB"s in the 4-3. 3-4 OLB's can be solid as well, but they don't get as many tackles, but many of them can get the sacks.

Yeah, I think Lauranitus will be a stud this year along with Willis of course. David Harris might still be pretty good as well.

I'd love Willis or Harris, but I believe they're both kept. My personal strategy was to avoid guys whose value is based on sacks, because while you'll end the season with similar points, along the way they'll torpedo you with a bunch of 0 and 1 point games. I want guys I can rely on week after week for a solid ten points.

You are exactly right, and you said this last year. I made sense then and the results were just like you explained.

Although Jared Allen was a beast last year and gave pretty good points from week to week and when he hit he hit BIG!

I'd love Jared Allen, but he is kept too. We have to play two DL, I have to buy into sack guys to some extent, I just don't like it!

All right, I joined and ammthe seventh team. Seems to me we need three more to make this kick ass. I like the rules, but 40 round draft? Woah. This is a man's league.

Yeah, I'm hoping to pick up 3 more people, with a max of 5. If you know anyone, let em know.

40 players is what we wanted to make this a really deep league. With only 10 teams, we didn't want to have a shallow league, so we went with a 40 man roster.

    Shallow leagues are lame.

Exactly. Which is why this one has 40 man rosters. That, combined with the awesome scoring, and this league is going to be a ton of fun.
