The Bengals played very well last year. With TO coming in and Antwaan Odom returning on defense and some of these younger guys like Rey Maualuga having another year under their belt plus the Bengals taking the top TE in the draft I find it very plausible that this team finds themselves rolling again and winning games, possibly the division and ending up in the playoffs. At that point, if they've stayed healthy all bets are off.
I think they'll start off the season rolling. I think they'll have a pretty good offense. Hell, they had plenty of weapons before TO was even signed. That's why I don't even understand why they took the risk. He can't help them that much more at this point, and his negative impact can sure as hell hurt them a lot if he goes bonkers again or starts getting into it with Palmer.

I definitely think that they'll make the playoffs, but they won't go far. They'll run into internal problems by week 13 for sure. Way to many mal contents for me to believe that this will go smoothly all season. Carson Palmer is a great player and a guy I've always liked a lot but he's not a strong enough leader to control this team, and his HC sure as hell isn't either. If he had a strong enough front office and HC behind him, than I'd be a lot more confident in what this team could possibly do, but this is one of the weakest and most lenient franchises in the league.

The eyes of Texas are upon you.

I'm still much more worried about who wears 81 than internal issues.

    Double

    Trouble!

Williams showed signs of slowing down late last year so I do not expect a strong run game here either. They lost some great players on D and did very little to fill those voids. This just does not look like a typical BP team.

I think TO and CJ will be fine together... they're not gonna gang up on Carson, quote it. I think having the two together is actually a good thing. the player I'm worried about now is Bryant. He's gotta feel like he got screwed here

This signing reminds me of the video from last year

I honestly don't think thats true. I don't think Antonio Bryant is good to go. The TO signing raises legit questions about whether or not Bryant is healed and ready to play, and if he isn't I don't see this team a having a ton of weapons. Bryant would have been the most complete WR on the roster if he was at 100%, without him Chad85 is more of a roleplayer than he is a complete WR and nobody else in that WR lineup has proven able to fill that role that Housh once filled. Maybe Shipley is something, but I'd find it irresponsible to put that sort of weight and responsibility on the shoulders of a 3rd round rookie. I also think that to a degree Carson Palmer needs some talent around him. He's a phenominal physical athlete who can make every throw on the field better than almost any QB in the league but he's not the mind that Peyton or Brady or some of these top notch QB's are. He needs the guys around him to step up and make plays and when they don't he tends to rely too much on his physical gifts and trying to make the fantastic play than he does trying to make the smart play. I don't know that their offense was ever going to get back to the level it needs to be without bringing in some more talent.

Maybe they do get sidetracked, maybe they don't. The only way we're going to find out is to let it play out. I can see it failing, but I can also see it working. Thats a gamble the Bengals obviously have the guts to take. They aren't going to overtake Ravens or possibly even the Steelers by making the safe move.
