Nate Davis: Late Round Find in the Making?

Apparently my favorite small school quarterback from this year's draft got his first taste of training camp action this week. From the SF Gate...

The big-armed Davis created instant sizzle, completing his first pass for a 30-yard gain to fellow rookie Bear Pascoe. His second pass was woefully late and was tipped and then picked by rookie safety Curtis Taylor.

Is this a story to watch? Will Davis emerge as the 49ers third string quarterback for the season?

I don't see why not. If he can digest the playbook (which was the knock on his because of his disability) he should be able to beat out Huard. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the #2 by season's end.

He'll definitely be the 3rd string quarterback but I worry about how well he'll learn the playbook and read defenses.

I came in here a month before the draft absolutely horrified that the NFL was basically overlooking this guy, when only 1 team showed up to his Pro Day. It was ridiculous.

I think this guy has a chance to be a quality starter in the NFL.

    From one #88 to another...

He has the talent no doubt and dumber QBs have gone in the 1st so he was really over looked IMO. I do find it funny a team that did not watch his pro day or interview him still took him in the late late 5th. But his lack of hand size is concerning. In all reality SF may find they have their QB of the future in a guy that apparently no one wanted.

He's not dumb....he just has a learning disability. That's not quite the same thing.
