CURTain Call(graphic by Xpetey)
I know everyone has been wondering, "where is CURTain call?" sadly there has been little news pertaining to the Vikings lately so i decided to take a week or two off. But I'm back now, and check out that beautiful logo Xpetey made for my articles, is that not the greatest logo you have ever seen?.
Pro Bowl
The Probowl is coming up this weekend, and the Vikings will be sending two players to Hawaii this year.
FS Darren Sharper, who led the NFC in INT's with 9 was an anchor of the Vikings defense despite missing two games to injury. While his tackles were his lowest since entering the league in 1997, Darren Sharper had a nose for the ball and began his career with the Vikings with a bang, returning an INT for a touchdown. He ended the season with two TD's off of ints, and 7 passes defenced.
KR Koren Robinson is also headed to the pro-bowl. Averaging 26 yards per return Koren Robinson was the first effective kick returner for the Vikings since the days of David Palmer. Robinson who joined the Vikings after being cut from the seahawks, and spending some time in rehab, had 7 returns of over 40 yards, and returned one kick for a touchdown in the 2005-06 season.
Personally i won't be watching the Probowl, I have a hockey game that day, but besides that, it's a boring game. The Probowl is the worst allstar game in all of the four major sports (Football, Baseball, Hockey, Basketball). It's a great vacation for the players, but the onfield product is just brutal to watch. Good luck to the Vikings players there, and i hope they do something worth showing on sportscenter so i can see what they did in the game.
The Superbowl
After watching the superbowl, and the controversy surrounding it, I am completely unimpressed. The game was for the most part a mistake prone, boring contest. Couple that with the fact that I had no interest in either of the teams, I can come to only one conclusion, this was a boring Superbowl. The hawks were prone to the Big play, Parker's 75 yards run, Randall El's 50 yard Toss, and Ward's catch at the 1 yard line, made the game interesting for about 30 seconds at a time, but the plays inbetween that were ugly.
The Stones were quite possibly one of the worst half-time performers i have ever seen. I know ABC was worried about another boob-gate, but the fact is the Stones are washed up... (WHY DON'T BANDS KNOW WHEN TO QUIT!!!!) Watching those nursing home escapees parade around that stage in skin tight clothing was enough to make me physically ill.
And finally, who could talk about the Superbowl with out talking about the questionable calls. One of the complaints Seahawk supporters have made, claim that the Steelers were only flaged 3 times. But the fact of the matter is, there were only 10 flags thrown in the whole game, so it's not like the Seahawks were being called very tightly. I don't believe there was any favoritism from the officials, I believe that the Steelers made the plays when they needed to, and the Seahawks could not. These complaints are the same tired story we here from every superbowl loser since the beginning of the NFL message boards (and they complained before that too, but there was no records).
