Well gator this is the final week of the regular season. It's been a good run congrats on winning the season against me, but I should let you know that I qualified for a playoff spot anyway and I am getting my starting brain back, so I will be a totally different animal in the playoffs. Step inside football fans and lets look at Crunked brain while it uses this meaningless week of picks to shake the rust off. Gator do we get one last week of le bean le counting?
Saturday
VS.
Denver at San Diego 4:30 p.m.
Gator:
It would have been a big game 2 weeks ago, but like Bait said, Denver has clinched and will rest starters and Chargers are eliminated. In a "Pride filled battle"
Super Chargers 28 Broncos 13
Bait:
Well here is a big game that the Chargers might actually win, although its not a big game now as the Broncos should be resting their starters for the playoffs to some degree, and the Chargers took themselves out of the picture.
Chargers 24 Broncos 21
VS.
N.Y. Giants at Oakland 8:00 p.m.
Gator:
Raiders have played very well against the NFC East this year, but they haven't played good against anyone else. They are 2-1(shoulda beat the Eagles too). If the Giants win they clinch the NFC East and will be either the #3 or 4 seed in the playoffs. With a little bit of homerism involved. In a "Only Raiders get out of the Black Hole alive"
Raiders 24 Giants 23
Bait:
The Giants aren't out of the woods yet, they can silence the critics and look forward to the post season with a win, and that is exactly what they will do, btw what happened to Randy Moss? I am begining to understand why the fans call it the black hole......
Giants 34 Oakland 17
Sunday
VS.
Arizona at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
Are the Colts backups really better than the Cardinals? Maybe. Cardinals will have the better WR tandem this weekend and against backups, look for them to light the Colts up. In a "Now they know what losing feels like x3"
Cardinals 35 Colts 28
Bait:
This hopefully is step two in the Colts get back on track express, look for the back ups to be in there defensively from the opening coin toss, look for Manning and Edge and Reggie to play a series or two after that its Sorgi time. The Colts back ups will be wanting to get a win under their belt after getting pushed around in Seattle defensively.....I think the Colts may Squeak out a season ending victory here.
Colts 21 Arizona 17
VS.
Baltimore at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
What got into the Ravens? They have looked great the last couple of weeks, but it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late. Cleveland got completely embarrassed and you know Charlie Frye is going to want to end the season on a good note. I look for him to have a pretty big game. (where's my money Raiden for saying this
) In a "Ravens are the last team to get Fryed in 2005(well technically 2006, but you know what I mean)"
Browns 23 Ravens 17
Bait:
Baltimore has discovered an offense, too little, too late. Cleveland got de-railed, side tracked, side swiped pick a phrase any phrase they were wiped by the Steelers. The Steelers and the Ravens play each other close therefore i deduce , using Crunked logic, that the Ravens will almost wipe the Browns.
Ravens 24 Browns 13
VS.
Buffalo at N.Y. Jets 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
This should have been a playoff matchup 17 weeks ago, but a lot of funny stuff can happen in football. Both teams have had QB problems and we know the Jets are still looking good for a top 3 pick, why ruin that? In a "There's always next year"
Bills 23 Jets 7
Bait:
Oh what could have been eh gator? I could have seen at the seasons onset that this game could have been HUGE, two young and imprvong teams, one a playoff vet from last season, the other just missing the playoffs squaring off in a divisional battle in the last game of the regular season. The schedule makers probably circled this one as one of the biggest of week 17. Now the reality, one administratively backsliding the other ravaged by quarterbacking shortages, in a play for pride get this season over with special
Bills 27 Jets 17
VS.
Carolina at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
Panthers feel like they got robbed last week. Atlanta is feeling pain as their playoff chances slipped away. Both teams need to win this game. Falcons for pride(and for the Skins/Cowboys
) and Carolina needs to win to clinch a playoff berth. I will give the nod to the home team in this battle. In a "Carolina is going to get a ride on the Micheal Vick experience"
Falcons 24 Panthers 20
Bait:
Atlanta, could and SHOULD do everything it can to play the role of the spoiler in this one, the Panthers are in a shaky position. The team the fans and the journalists would all have you believe it was due to a bad call last week and although that was the end result and it is unfortunate, the way to take the ref out of the game is to play dominant football so that one call won't make or break your season. This is a Sybil match up if ever there was one, I have to believe, as do Panther fans that they have heart and pride, and if they do they will do everything they can to win this game.
Panthers 23 Atlanta 20
VS.
Cincinnati at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
This is another interesting game. Bengals need to prove that they can beat a good team on the road, since they got embarrassed last week to the Bills. Chiefs still have a slim chance at the playoffs. Arrowhead is one of the toughest places to play, just ask the Chargers last week. In a "Arrowhead prevails once again"
Chiefs 35 Bengals 31
Bait:
My personal opinion? I think the Bengals should try to win this one, but I would bet they will be resting some of their starters. KC has to win and hope, and I think it will take a whole lot of hope, I give them credit for the win, its the hope that will be in short supply.
Chiefs 34 Bengals 17
VS.
Detroit at Pittsburgh 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
I will open this game with 2 words for Lions fans..... FIRE MILLEN! Lions have looked horrible, but could play spoiler. Steelers have been very hot the last couple of weeks. In a "We'll play Hot/Cold and Hot always wins"
Steelers 42 Lions 10
Bait:
gator lost me after FIRE MILLEN! but he is right the Steelers just decimate what is left of the Lion organization.
Steelers 41 Lions 3
VS.
Miami at New England 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
Don't forget the matchup last year where the Fins shocked the world and beat the Patriots. Fins have been on a roll and won all their December games for the first time in forever(maybe ever). Patriots have also gotten on a roll just in time for the playoffs. They were getting healthy before Tedy Bruschi got injured last week. In a "Hot vs. Hot, the cold weathered team wins the home game. In a "Frozen Fish play a good game, but fall short."
Patriots 27 Dolphins 24
Bait:
I love what Saban has done with and for the Dolphins however, this is his first year he is not expected to pull out all the big wins just yet. Here is to one less RB and one more QB in Miami, good season guys looking forward to next season.
Patriots 24 Dolphins 17
VS.
New Orleans at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
If Tampa wins this, then they clinch the NFC South, but since Carolina lost this game doesn't make any difference. Tampa still plays hard and the Saints still challenge, but in the end the Bucs prevail and get the 3rd seed in the NFC playoffs. In a "Hopefully next season will be better for the Saints"
Bucs 25 Saints 18
Bait:
Tampa avoids gators twisted will on the outcome of week 17 and wins anyway
Bucs 27 Saints 13
VS.
Seattle at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
Gator:
Seattle will rest their starters and Brett Farve will start again. Seattle had a big win against the Colts pee wee team last week. The way that it's been going for the Packers, you have to wonder how Brett Farve will choke this game. Packers are just hoping that Fisher can stay healthy and they can end with their 4th string RB. Shaun Alexander is close to breaking the TD record. In a "Alexander gets the record, then sits"
Packers 27 Seahawks pee-wee team 24
Bait:
Green Bay gets the win as (using gator speak) the Seahawks pee-wee team steps in, thats a compliment right gator?
Packers 24 Seahawks 18
VS.
Houston at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
Gator:
Here it is, the game for all the marbles. If Houston wins, then the Saints get the #1 pick, but if San Francisco wins, then the Texans get the 1st pick. It's going to be interesting to see if either pick Reggie Bush, because both teams best position is RB. The Niners are trying to ride a 2 game winning streak to end the season and give their fans hope. In a "Alex Smith is giving Niners fans hope with this win-Texans didn't want to take any chances of losing #1 pick by scoring a TD"
Niners 38 Texans 3
Bait:
The Kings of too little too late, the Texans are going to win this one gator, because they do everything backward, Smith will get his first TD, but the Texans will win this one with special teams. You know I almost made this a "PSH game of the week but didn't want to offend the fans of both teams. This is their superbowl here, for both sides and under any other circumstance I would pick the Niners, but because the Texans have had a season of doing the wrong thing at the right time, I don't see that ending one week short of a perfect season.
Texans 23 Niners 21
VS.
Tennessee at Jacksonville 4:05 p.m.
Gator:
Titans are the youngest team in the league and Jags are playoff bound. The knock on the Jags are they haven't beaten anyone good and barely beat the bad teams. They play down to the teams and now Leftwich is coming back to practice. This is Gerrard's last chance to maybe get himself a starting job somewhere else. In a "Jaguars eat a lot of dots, but Pac Man eats more"
Titans 20 Jaguars 17
Bait:
Jacksonville has nothing to play for in the grander scheme of things but they are at home and I dont care who you are (Polian hear my cry) you play to win at home for your fans, no matter what.
Jags 21 Titans 20
VS.
Chicago at Minnesota 4:15 p.m.
Gator:
This is a pretty good game for Week 17. At the beginning of the season everyone thought it would be the opposite, Vikings clinch, Bears playing for pride. Bears defense has been great, but so has Brad Johnson. In a "Ew, Gross! Brad Johnson is going to have a Bear of a game"
Vikings 17 Bears 14
Bait:
The Vikings couldn't win this one with a running start gator. The Bears have nothing to gain but something to prove, they want to show they are a force to be reckoned with, look for them to hammer the Vikes early and often and then sit down and let the back ups play. Winning is the goal resting is an option.
Bears 28 Vikings 10
VS.
Washington at Philadelphia 4:15 p.m.
Gator:
Oh no, what is Gators going to do here? Skins win, they are in the playoffs as a 4 seed(since I conveniently picked Panthers and Giants to lose). It's all on the Skins shoulders. Will an injured Mark Brunell start or will Patrick Ramsey pick up the slack. Philly is always a tough place to play, especially if you are a divisional rival that is about to clinch a playoff berth. Can the Eagles play spoiler? In a "NOT IN THIS UNIVERSE! -my calc teacher at UF said that a lot, so it's an inside joke"
SKins 24 Eagles 23
Bait:
Gibbs can't wait he wants that playoff shot now, doesnt he gator? He has a team with enough talent to make it but do they have neough character? What is Lavar prattling about now, playoff push is coming the team needs to focus on the Eagles not Lavar's mouth. The D.C. heartbreak continues.
Eagles 23 Skins 21
VS.
St. Louis at Dallas 8:30 p.m.
Gator:
The stage is set for this game to mean something. If Cowboys win, they eliminate the Panthers from the playoffs and pick up the 6th seed. Cowboys are the Jekyll/Hyde of the NFC(well tied with the Panthers). Both have great games(their win on the road against Carolina that kept them alive) and then bad games(their horrible performance against the Skins the week before). Will it be Jekyll or Hyde for them this game? In a "Playoff bound are the Cowboys"
Cowboys 28 Rams 13
Bait:
The Cowboys will two step into the playoffs if it werent for those pesky Panthers eh gator? Well in the Crunked world of survival of the just, the Cowboys win will not be enough to get them in, Parcells retires and Crunked lives happily ever after.
Cowboys 35 Rams 18
