The end of the universe

Christmas and Halloween on the same shelves

Last week I encountered the end of the universe and it is not, as Lewis Black stated, a Starbucks across from a Starbucks. I walked into Target shortly after it opened and as I strolled the aisles, I came upon Christmas decorations opposite Halloween decorations. With one stop, you could get Christmas cards and costumes. While you're in getting your orange Halloween lights, you can pick up some more Christmas lights for your tree.

Now I love Christmas as much as the next guy....probably more. I have been known to listen to Christmas music as I mowed lawn in August or September. Now I have nothing against Halloween, but once you pass a certain age, it becomes nothing more than an opportunity to watch some very scary movies for about 30 days.

You would think that retailers could wait until November 1st at the earliest to put stuff out. Is that too much to ask?

This was written several weeks agoof course.
