The New Divisions:

As a Wild fan I'm completely stoked. No more do I have to put up with Western Canada and divisional rivals 2 time zones away. Now I just hope it's named the Norris division.

For me, it's stupid. Why are Tampa Bay and Florida thrown into a division with three Canadians and 2 almost Canadians?

I would have much preferred Tampa Bay, Florida, Carolina, Nashville, Washington and maybe Columbus and St. Louis or something like that.

The Tampa Bay/Florida thing is it brings in much more interesting matchups. Geographic rivalries are pretty irrelevant in the south. The premise is that the snow birds are more likely to show up when Boston, Montreal, Ottowa, Toronto or Buffalo come to town than say Nashville or Carolina.

Yes it's not an ideal situation, but most reports i've read are that tampa and florida are quite happy with the new situation.

True, but from all the games I've went to(granted, it was '95-'99, but it was well over 100 games) the only Northern teams that really drew were Rangers, Flyers, Wings and Devils. I'm sure now that Boston won a cup their fair weather locals have shown up as well, but pretty much nothing from Toronto, Buffalo, Ottawa or Montreal.

But hey, at least it gets Winnipeg out of the Southeast.
