DEN Calm, Cool Cutler Stars in the Clutch

The Denver Post

Notes from the nosebleed seats. . . .

Memo to Philip Rivers: Jay Cutler wanted me to tell you that he just pulled off back-to-back fourth-quarter comebacks. Not that, you know, the kid is growing up before our very eyes. . . .

What were the odds? A Broncos defensive back intercepting Matt Ryan in the Georgia Dome, that is. The Broncos' secondary had two picks going into the game and Ryan hadn't thrown one at home. Repeat after me: That's why they play these games. . . .

yes, cutler seems to have re-gained his poise and accuracy in the last 2 games .......... he had a rough stretch there of several games ...........

i have to say that i thought cutler looked like he had taken huge strides in the first few games of this season but my excitement was tempered when he started looking human again for several games (in which the Broncos went 1-4 by the way) ............ if he can keep this re-gained momentum for the rest of the year and be more consistent, I will be the first to say that Cutler has taken the 'next step' in 2008 and the Broncos may have found someone special here. However, if he slumps again for a few games in a row this year, I'm not sure we're really seeing anything different than what we've seen from Cutler over the past few seasons ............

we've SEEN flashes of brilliance from this guy over the past few seasons .......... THAT is not really in question ............ to me, I need to see more consistency (similar to what I always got out of Elway whenever I flipped on the T.V.) before I jump the gun on this kid again .................

They guy is down to his starting fullback as his starting tailback. Royal, Marshall, Stokely and Scheffler have all missed time. He's going to be fine now that his WRs and TEs are healthy.
