DEN Weapons Extinguished, Cutler Fired Up

LINCICOME: Weapons extinguished, Cutler fired up

Heeee's back.

That would be Jay Cutler, so discombobulated and commonplace of late, restored in one superb evening, loose and free and prolific, not the constipated crank he has been.

This was the Cutler of early September, except more so, because he was without the same weapons, every one of his 447 passing yards needed, each of his three touchdown throws vital, even his 29 rushing yards crucial.

"Obviously, he threw the ball well," said Mike Shanahan, using the coach's gift of understatement.

What Cutler can do he was allowed to do against that old tradition patsy, the Browns, not only allowed but forced to do with the further deletion of anyone who dares to run the football for the Broncos, rescuing the Broncos from themselves.

"It was a big win," said receiver Brandon Stokley. "As bad as we have been playing, we just needed a win. To get it the way we did was awesome."

He played a hell of a game in the second half. Made some bad throws that he got away with in the first, but he came through when they needed him to.

I swear though, the Broncos will not continue to have these offensive outputs if they continue to force the ball to Marshall who has had a ton of drops this season. I watch Broncos games and get so frustrated I swear.

When will Eddie Royal get some love? If you notice, I continue to ask this question week after week. He catches everything thrown to him. They finally go deep to Royal yesterday and look what happens? One deep ball to him all game though. Just about every pass play they throw to Royal is some sort of 8 yard slant. This guy can make plays all over the field and embarrass defenders, but yet they act like Marshall is the only guy on the field who can make plays. I just don't get it. How many times last night did they force balls to Marshall in double and sometimes triple coverage? I don't know if it is just Cutler keying in on him or if Shanahan is acting stubborn as usual wanting one guy to get the ball. I have to put it on Shanahan because it is the same thing week in and week out. This offense will get a lot better and more consistent in the passing game when they realize that their are TWO really good WR's on that team instead of one that they continue to pass to in double coverage every game.

he threw the ball plenty to Royal last night. Eddie had more catches than Brandon. But I agree, with all the RBs going down, they are going to need to work Eddie into the O a LOT more.

Not near enough. Him and Marshall both had 6 catches a piece, but they threw the ball to Marshall a whole lot more. And a ton of those throws to Marshall, he was not easily open even in one on one coverage and several of them were in double coverage and at least one was in triple coverage. You'd think Royal would have had a ton of field days this season with the way teams have doubled up on Marshall and had one on one coverage to Royal pretty much all season long. At this point he should have just as many balls thrown to him if not maybe even more if they continue to double up on Marshall. Feed the ball to Royal and the more plays he makes the less double teams Marshall gets and open him up a lot more.
