DAL Jones eligible for reinstatement

Quote:
IRVING, TEXAS (TICKER) —Having completed a four-game suspension imposed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones is now eligible for reinstatement.

However, the NFL had no comment on the matter Monday, leaving Jones and the Cowboys in limbo.

Dallas coach Wade Phillips said he would have no problem welcoming Jones back to the team despite his troubled past.

Really depends on if his continued sobriety is a condition of his reinstatement. In that particular case, I'd be relatively okay with it as long as it's actually called a last chance, blow this, you're done period type deal.

his last chance with the LEAGUE should have been this last incident.

nobody should be blessed with this much privilege or chances. especially someone like this.

I agree, and believe me, these steps are steps that should have been taken a long time ago. It's actually I think a glaring flaw in the NFL's personal conduct policy that treatment options aren't the first thing they look to, especially in a case like that of Adam Jones where he clearly had a problem with alcohol to begin with and should been in treatment during his suspension instead of free to roam the airwaves making an even bigger jackass of himself before he got his life right.

With that in mind, now that he's actually been through that process, I think he should get a chance, a last chance, to prove that it's a legit change. If it is, great, have a nice career, if it's not, thanks for playing and making us all that cash with those jersey sales, have a nice life, and don't come back now, y'hear?

That's not the way Roger Goodell thinks.

If he was a Bengal I think he would be gone. But since Jerry has him on his team, one thing Jerry can do is be convincing.

That is the thing. We may criticize Jerry for this and that, but the old man can be a charmer type of guy and he is one of the more powerful owners around the league. He just seems like he can pull off more than other owners can in a lot of situations and We've all heard him speak in that soft tone of his when he wants to sound like a nice guy. It obviously works pretty well on Goodell.

Like you said, Pac Man has had 5, 6 , and 7th chances. He's had double than what anyone else has gotten. The fact that we're even discussing the possibility of him getting another shot is way beyond ridiculous to me. If Goodell lets him back, I'll lose all respect for the new commish and I think it should be A LOT more difficult to suspend other players down the road after all of Pac's chances. To me it will show an unfair bias and favors for the Cowboys organization.

Not that I agree with the decision to bring Jones back, but how can you say he would be gone if he was a Bengal or shows bias towards the Cowboys?

Chris Henry is still allowed to play in the league and the Bengals even took him back after saying in April that he had "forfeited his career with the Bengals." They even signed Cedric Benson.
