Jason Witten Diagnosed With Broken RibCowboys Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten has learned that medical tests performed Monday revealed he suffered a fractured rib, according to team sources.

But the team's leading receiver refuses to rule himself out of Sunday's NFC East showdown against the New York Giants and has informed the coaching staff he will try to play through the injury.

Hes a great TE and a tough guy, but I don't know how effective hes going to be if he takes a shot in the ribs Sunday in the meadowlands.

He's a tough guy, he refuses to come out. When he broke the rib, he returned even though he didn't last long.

Like I said, very tough guy. But how effective can he be once he gets hit there? I guess we'll see. I dont think they need him to have a big day to win. The Cowboys' biggest concern should be to run the football.

If Brad Johnson starts we will need him, since Johnson can't throw more than 15 yards.
