BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT (TICKER) —Dallas Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman has a sports hernia and could miss a minimum of six weeks, according to a report posted Thursday on ESPN.com.
Citing a source close to Newman, the web site reports the Cowboys have forwarded results of his MRI and other medical tests to Philadelphia-based specialist Dr. William Meyers to determine if surgery is necessary.
If the test results are confirmed, Newman will have surgery immediately and miss at least six weeks.
