DAL First loss doesn’t shake Cowboys’ confidence

Quote:
IRVING, Texas (AP)—The Dallas Cowboys eliminated one huge distraction with their first loss of the season.

“I guess now we can be alleviated from going 16-0,” Bradie James said Monday, a day after the Cowboys lost 26-24 at home to NFC East rival Washington.

“It’s always a big atom bomb drop anytime we lose because people think we are going to win every game every year by 40 points,” Marcus Spears said. “But that’s not the case. … We’ve always been able to pull back together. Guys have no less hope of getting where we want to go now than before we played Washington.”

I bet it does........

how can it not? The Skins were universally thought of as the worst team in the great division. Now the team that is universally thought as the Best....loses to them.......how can that NOT screw with the confidence?

I don't think their confidence will be hurting at all.

The problem I could possibly see for them is if Garret for instance starts feeling like he needs to call enough plays to make TO happy or get enough balls his way so he doesn't say anything worse than what he did last week. Or if Romo starts thinking he needs to sling enough balls at him as well so he doesn't start griping all over the place. That hurt them last week when they didn't run the ball as much or look for other creative plays to get Felix involved. They have to many weapons all over the field to have to worry about what one selfish player will or will not say after the game or how he might start griping and complaining all over the sidelines.

well, a game like that WILL shake their confidence at least a bit ............ in reality, the Redskins simply exposed some weaknesses in the Cowboys defense ........... however, the game should end up making the cowboys stronger if they learn from their mistakes and make improvements.

That's purely a media perspective. Teams have more respect for each other than that and it's the Redskins who have a long-standing rivalry with the Cowboys, so it's just a loss and nothing more.

I don't think the Redskins exposed anything that wasn't already known about the defense. Good thing for Dallas is most QBs won't be able to escape the pressure like Campbell or McNabb did.

you are incorrect. When you are a player and a team, what makes you good is the confidence. They beat out a tough division rival in a tough tough game....and now they were knocked down by another. That WILL effect confidence. No Matter who you are.

I don't think it does. It might actually be a good wake up call for them and get them back to a better lunch pale mentality under Wade. He seems like he probably has more of country club atmosphere rather than a true HARD KNOCKS atmosphere from day to day. Maybe it will get them more to that mentality through practice all day.

a wake up call is in fact a reaction to confidence being shaken......so thank you for proving my point.

Well if you want to think that your point was proven by my response, then knock yourself out.

MY POINT was that maybe them losing and not exploding all over the Skins offensively might be a wake up call where they feel that they might need to take practice more seriously and prepare themselves better rather than to go into their next game thinking that they can just ease by them without taking them seriously enough. Knowing that they have talent and stars all around the board can make a team sometimes think that they are just going to dominate without putting in their best effort. Just because they lost, doesn't mean that they lost confidence in being able to execute offensively or defensively. The wake up call part is about realizing that you have to go out there each and every week and if you don't go out there with that same hungry mentality you might not dominate teams the way you should. It doesn't mean that they don't have the confidence that they can.
