DAL Just thinking, If Dallas wins the super bowl

I think you can say goodbye to Jason Garrett and you'll be stuck with Wade Phillips. You can't fire a coach after winning the super bowl and Garrett will be a hot name again this off-season.

I think Jerry will do whatever it takes to keep Jason.

He gave him $3 million last year to stay and I'm sure there was a promise of some day taking over as head coach but if Wade Phillips wins the super bowl you can't fire him and Jason won't wait forever. If the right team makes an offer what is Jerry going to do? Pay him $5 million a year? Make him wait for another 2 years at least?

Now you're just wishing, lol. Face the music man, Garrett is as good as gone if you win the super bowl. So you have to ask yourself what you want more. Garrett as the next head coach or for the Cowboys to win the super bowl this year?

I see three teams, possibly four, looking for coaches next year right now. St. Louis, possibly the Lions, possibly the Vikings and possibly the Chiefs.

I think you're stretching on the Chiefs and likely the Lions.

You can add the Browns, Bengals, Raiders, and Seahawks (although they've already got Holmgrens replacement on staff) to that list.

Well I hope the Lions don't replace Marinelli but that will depend on their new GM. Herm Edwards has done nothing and should be replaced IMO.

Browns, Bengals and Raiders are a good call but I don't see him leaving Dallas to go to the Raiders, he's smarter than that. Browns would be a good destination for him. Bengals...probably not with that owner but the offense has the weapons he could work with.

I don't think Garrett would be dumb enough to go to the Raiders even if Al is chunking the bucks. I'm pretty sure that he would choose a more suitable place where he has a better chance at success.

The Browns wouldn't be a bad place for him though. He might be enticed by some of the offensive weapons over there.

Why not fire the figurehead? Publicity? I don't think JJ gives a damn, and why should he?

Maybe he does it mid-season.

What if Garrett falls on his face as a head coach? Then you just fired the coach that took you to the super bowl and replaced him with a guy that has no head coaching experience. It's 50/50 that Garrett is successful as a head coach and, right now, 50/50 that he leaves for a head coaching job.

I think Garrett was smart to stay with the Cowboys for another year cause it gives him another year to learn as a coordinator but this only increases his value across the league. Right now I just don't see how they keep him without firing Wade Phillips and that's risky business.
