The All Raiden Team - Offense

It's the first annual Dawgs Barking Awards, er, All Raiden Team, as our RaidenDAWG takes a look at his favorite college football players, and molds an eclectic team out of the guys with the combination of smarts, speed, and sheer physicality that play the brand of football they like in a Dawg Pound.

Welcome to my first annual All Raiden Team, College Edition. These are guys I freaking love at the college level, and they play the game the way it's meant to be played. In here is a spread of sophomores to seniors (based on the 2010 season ages) that are emblematic of the guys you want to build your collegiate team around. They may not all play on Sundays one day, and they may not be the fastest, strongest, quickest guys in the bunch, but they're my kind of football player. Here's the offense, and please, feel free to tell me in the comments how you stop this team from running up the score. Next week, I'll pull together the immovable object defense to complement this unstoppable force of an offensive powerhouse.

    Offense

Quarterback - Jake Locker, Senior, Washington

Locker's a Sarkisian disciple, with added speed and strength to boot. He's 230 plus pounds, and he reportedly runs right around a molasses busting 4.40 in the 40. Oh yeah, cannon for a right arm, and improving accuracy, if he's not busting through undersized linebackers for first down. This is my kind of football player.

Runner Up: Andrew Luck, Sophomore, Stanford

Running Back - Anthony Allen, Senior, Georgia Tech

What? You thought these were all going to be guys you'd heard of? Couldn't be that easy. Allen, you will hear of this year, as he's more than likely going to be the focal point in Paul Johnson's triple option attack this season. He averaged close to 10 yards per carry this past season, and in 2006, as a freshman replacing an injured Michael Bush, he rushed for 13 touchdowns and picked up another as a receiver.

Wide Receivers - Jonathan Baldwin, Junior, Pitt; Mohamed Sanu, Sophomore, Rutgers; Dane Sanzenbacher, WR, Ohio State

Wouldn't you like to have these three on your team? All three can go deep, or over the middle, or occasionally leave your shoes planted firmly in the turf behind you as they're juking you silly. Baldwin's the best receiver in college football, Sanu's a promising super soph coming off a 51 catch freshman season, and Sanzenbacher, home town favorite, great slot receiver, and one of Terrelle Pryor's favorite targets because he just gets open, not unlike a young Anthony Gonzalez. Besides, with Baldwin and Sanu on the outside drawing every bit of possible defensive attention, Sanzenbacher will be free in the slot to roam the middle of the field and pick apart zones or destroy single coverage from a poor, overmatched nickle back.

Tight End - D.J. Williams, Senior, Arkansas

Why D.J. Williams of Arkansas you say? Because he's a 251 pound ex-quarterback I reply!

Offensive Tackles - Lee Ziemba, Senior, Auburn; J.B. Shugarts, Junior, Ohio State

Ziemba gets the nod because I like guys who stand 6'8, weigh 300 pounds, and can still move like basketball players. Shugarts is a big big fella who's light on his feet (oh yeah, and I've stood next to him on the field before, veeeeerrrrrrry tall fella who is every bit of his listed 6'8). Shugarts also has to be a bit mobile and a bit nasty because of that quarterback he blocks for, Terrelle Pryor.

Offensive Guards - Justin Boren, Senior, Ohio State; Mike Pouncey, Senior, Florida

Boren makes it on merit alone, but the fact that this may cause our resident Wolverine fan, Wolverine, to attempt to get the word "traitor" into his comments on this article as often as possible is an added bonus. Pouncey, the somewhat lesser regarded of the Pouncey twins (although I would highly recommend you NOT say that to his face) plays good football in a spread offense, but I think he could do it in just about any offense.

Center: Stefen Wisniewski, Senior, Penn State

Couldn't just throw in Michael Brewster from Ohio State, although you can easily bet I thought long and hard about it. Wisniewski is the son of a former NFL lineman and the nephew of a former All Pro guard. The success is in the genes, apparently, because Stefen is a chip off the ole' dad and uncle and plays a physical game in a physical conference.

Three Buckeyes, eh? Otherwise, I like this list a lot. These are definitely football players.

They are all gamers. I'm not going to lie, I expected to see the entire Buckeye offense posted in this article. I'm surprised only 3 out of the 11 guys were Buckeyes. Good to see Mike Pouncey make this list. He could play pretty much any position on the line if needed. I bet he'll be our center this year replacing his twin brother.
