CLE Second choice for new Browns head coach

Beyond Bill Cowher being my first choice to replace Romeo Crennel when he's inevitably canned at season's end...

My second choice, after much careful thought and consideration...

Josh McDaniels, offensive coordinator, Patriots.

He's young (32), sharp minded, and he's studied under two very successful head coaches to date, Belichick and Nick Saban (at the college level).

Doesn't hurt that he's a Canton native either...I think he'd be a good fit for a fresh start here in Cleveland.

if i were an owner or gm hiring a head coach, i wou|d be VERY |eery of any Be||ichick assistants ...........

Weis has fai|ed at Notre Dame

Crenne|| has fai|ed in C|eve|and

and thus far, I can't say anything that Mangini has done has to|d me that he is a bri||iant coach ........... what the Jets have done this year is most|y attributab|e to their ta|ent |eve|.

Nick Saban cou|dn't cut it in the NF|

Jeff Davidson hasn't exact|y set the wor|d on fire

so, out of the Be||ichick coaching tree, you can pick out a coup|e of guys that have been successfu| co||ege head coaches (Ferentz, Saban) and a coup|e of guys that appear to be pretty good NF| assistants (Ryan, Schwartz) but a |ot of his understudies have actua||y f|oundered and NONE of them have been good head coaches at the NF| |eve| yet ..........

I think the Browns need someone a |itt|e more so|id so that it has a higher probabi|ity of success ..............

Yeah, but Marty Ball's said he doesn't want to coach again. He's leaning more towards looking for a Parcells-esque role as a president. I really think a Cowher Savage Schottenheimer triumvirate could work.

So you cast off one former Patriot coach for what would be another? The definition of insanity would be....

What you need is a 3-4 guy since you've spent so much on building that 3-4 defense. A lot of draft picks were traded for players to fit that defense.
