But offense, defense, and special teams are 3 entirely different beasts. We see alot of teams where one phase holds up another, but rarely if ever did you see the Ravens defenders the past 10 years openly criticising the offense. Even they had enough respect to keep their mouths shut.

And Cribbs, as lousy as hs is on offense, is simultaneously a contributing factor to the very problem he's complaining about. Maybe if HE showed up with more heart on offense, maybe if HE put forth more effort they'd be better.

Yeah, but from what I'm seeing he is doing what he is expected to do on offense. Unless I'm missing it, but I don't remember them playing him at WR a lot and trying to get him the ball. It's like you say, he isn't really much of a WR. But plays where I see them trying to get him the ball on reverses, the guy makes nice plays if he just has the smallest openings sort of like those plays they run for Desean Jackson. I can't say that he isn't putting forth any effort or lacking any heart. He just isn't your every down WR like you said from the beginning. He's more of a special play here and there kind of play maker. He just isn't capable of being counted on every play like that, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't give it his all if they asked him to do it. If he sees guys like Edwards or Winslow perhaps who everyone knows is capable, but is lacking heart and desire, again I have no problem with him calling people out. Hell, when he is chopping off half the field on a ton of returns making it that much easier for them to get into scoring position, I'd say his impact and contributions are enough to have his say so.

Also though going back to those Ravens, I wouldn't have had any problem with them calling out Billick through some of those horrible years where he held the team back by hand cuffing every season to Kyle Boller. Billick's constant stubborness hurt that team. And Shannon Sharpe had no problem calling out the offense. He did a few times when Billick was so dumb to keep Grbach in there. Grbach was awful.

Again though I like your first idea about hearing from the kicker or maybe the punter. Wouldn't it be great if Vanderjackt played for them right now?

Shannon Sharpe played on offense though, and he was their best offensive player. I don't have a problem with Jamal Lewis stepping up and calling people out for similar reasons. Sharpe has the pedigree and experience and resume which gives him the right to call out his teammates or coaches like that. Joshua Cribbs, or any other kick returner, does not.

Now if Cribbs wants to call out his own special teams guys, fine. But before he goes out there and starts calling out guys who way outperform him in other aspects of the game he needs to start doing something.

I have to agree that Cribbs should keep his mouth shut. Its like the time Mike Vanderjact started making waves by questioning Manning's leadership and the team's toughness.

Jamal Lewis has been around long enough to know when a team is quitting..

Josh Cribbs hasn't..

Still.. This team's coaching staff is a mess

But when you've got a kick returner openly criticizing the team, thats a story to me because he really isn't in a position to do so. If the coach wants to get this ship righted and discipline these players, he can start with shutting the kick returner up. Jamal Lewis is a respected player whose words may inspire some of these lazy teammates, but Cribbs is just creating division.

Would you support Cribbs being cut then? He apparently isnt that important to the team... not good enough to contribute outside of returning kicks... and now criticizing better players.

No, because he is a great kick returner.

He's like a kicker though, they should be seen but not heard.

Jamal Lewis doesn't have much room to talk himself...

What the hell is this about Cribbs should shut up? Cribbs absolutely dominates every aspect of special teams. Watch a game, and you'll see him in on every special teams tackle, not to mention the massive amount of special teams yardage he piles up every game.

You want to talk about his offensive yards as the reason he's not valuable and his opinion doesn't matter? He's the reason that they're not starting 10-20 yards farther back at the beginning of every drive. He gives up his body, and takes some massive shots for his team while returning kicks. So Cribbs is in on 4-5 tackles a game, accounts for over 100 yards a game, and is good for 3-4 TDs a year at least, but he has no room to speak, because he's a special teamer?

He has every bit of the right Jamal has to say something about his teammates. Because he's one of the best players on the team, he's much better at his position than Jamal is at his. Comparing Cribbs to a kicker is moronic.
