Trent Dilfer Beatdown of Browns Organization

Former Browns quarterback (2005), Trent Dilfer, ranted about the quarterback change (Brady Quinn) on ESPN.

Quote:
"The owner [Randy Lerner] makes knee-jerk decisions to fill seats. Public opinion has made this decision for the Browns. This is an organization that I played for, for a year, and I saw very closely that the organization itself is highly dysfunctional and cannot make decisions that are good for the long-term growth of the organization. You never, ever bench a quarterback when you’re a bad football team. You bench a quarterback when you’re a good football team and your quarterback is holding you back. It shows a total lack of discretion and wisdom at the very highest levels of the Cleveland Brown organization. There are so many layers of dysfunction that this decision represents.”

Yeah, you never bench a quarterback when you're a bad football team. In what world does that make sense?

yes, I thought that was an awkward statement also ........ then he goes on to say that you should only ...... "bench a quarterback when you’re a good football team and your quarterback is holding you back."

What don't you understand about that?

It makes sense..

Your current guy isn't getting it done and the rest of the team is... so you make the move to get someone who can..

Basically, hes calling the Browns a bad football team, and that you shouldn't blame DA.

Yes, but in his arrogant little rant he said many things that didn't make sense.

All Browns fans knew this was coming, and it wasn't ,like people want to believe, that ownership made this move because of the fans booing. I'm a fan of DA, but his inconsistencies in the short passing game were handcuffing this team. And his deep threats are dropping everything, making his one strength meaningless. Brady can do more for this group of receivers than Anderson can. I'm sorry it made Dilfer mad, but this had to happen.
