CHI Bears Cut Archuleta

Quote:
The Chicago Bears announced today that they have released safety Adam Archuleta after one year with the team.

Last March the Bears traded their 2007 sixth-round draft pick to the Redskins in exchange for Archuleta, who had just finished a disappointing season in Washington. He played in 15 games for the Bears, starting 10. (The Redskins used the pick to draft quarterback Jordan Palmer.)

Archuleta had his best seasons with the Rams from 2001 to 2005, with Lovie Smith, now the Bears’ hea

So, this guy's just terrible, huh? How come everyone thought he was so good back in 2001/2002? Did he get hurt at some point? I remember when he was in DC when I was, and man did everyone there think he sucked.

If a team has a pure coverage safety, he'll excel. But, especially now, he just can not be relied on in coverage. Archuleta is a very hard worker though. He busted his behind to get into college, then to the NFL. I think that if he was willing, and a team would take a chance, Archuleta could be a very good linebacker.

He was used in the right way in his first two years with St. Louis (I believe he played alongside Aneas Williams) and was very good. Then when he was supposed to be the man, he failed.

He's basically the white Roy Williams, without the rediculous pro bowl votes.

He never impressed me really. He was never the best Safety in that division. He did have a couple SOLID seasons with the Rams, but nothing more.
