Delhomme, Peppers under pressure to revive Panthers

The Carolina Panthers hope that an injury-free season from quarterback Jake Delhomme and a return to form by defensive lineman Julius Peppers will be enough to catapult the team back to the playoffs after two years of sitting on the sidelines in January.
Delhomme, a Pro Bowl selection in 2005, was limited to just three games last season because of an injured elbow that required “Tommy John” surgery.
But Delhomme displayed little signs of rust in the preseason. In his last outing, he was 11-for-19 for 159 yards and two touchdowns versus the Washington Redskins’ first-string defense.
