As they continue to reshape a receiving corps that will be without its star for the first two games of the season, the Carolina Panthers have signed former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Samie Parker and released receiver Sean Bailey.
The Panthers, who put receiver Jason Carter on injured reserve yesterday, hope that Parker can make an instant impact, especially because Steve Smith will be suspended for Week 1 at San Diego and Week 2 against Chicago.
Coach John Fox said he also hopes Parker, who was in training camp with the Broncos but got cut on Monday, will be an upgrade on special teams.
