Lucas to miss 2-3 weeks

Though Panthers cornerback Ken Lucas was back at practice on Monday after being assaulted on Friday by teammate Steve “Mama Said Knock You Out” Smith, Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com reports that Lucas needs surgery on his broken nose.

Per Reed, Lucas is expected to miss two-to-three weeks.

The irony in all of this is that the fight, as we hear it, started because teammates who make fun of the belief or reality that Lucas has had one or more nose jobs then made fun of Smith for getting shown up my a guy who might have had one or more nose job after Lucas made a good play against Smith in practice on Friday.

This is the kind of thing that just makes me shake my head about the state of our society.

I dislike the Panthers. I like Ken Lucas though. I think he's a fine player and wish he'd stayed with the Seahawks. I dislike Steve Smith though and always have. He aggravated me when he punched that teammate of his back in '02 and I can't stand his constant trash talking, showboating, and his entire persona. IMO hes worse than Chad Johnson ever was. I don't mind a little trash talk but my god does Steve Smith ever shut up?

Anyway, between these 2 players Smith is the heralded player. He's the guy with all the fans and all the love and he doesn't deserve any of it. Right now it looks like Lucas is the victim here, and maybe theres more to it than I know but it sickens me to see a guy like Smith do something like this. I don't want to paint Ken Lucas to be a saint but to see a guy like Smith do this it makes me sick because I know that when its over and forgotten that Smith will still be the more heralded player.
