Panthers sign Hackett

Quote:
The Panthers and Hackett's agents have begun negotiating a contract, and the free-agent wide receiver could make a decision regarding his future employer as soon as Monday, according to The Rock Hill Herald.

Hackett has also drawn interest from the Redskins and Buccaneers

In a 2007 season hampered by injuries, Hackett caught 32 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns. At 26, Hackett could be the No. 2 receiver the Panthers need to complement Steve Smith.
This could be done today or 2morrow

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Free agent wideout D.J. Hackett agreed to two-year, $3.5 million deal with Carolina on Monday as the Panthers continued to upgrade their receiving corps.
Looks like Hackett has found his home.

This is a great move by the Panthers, him and Steve Smith should compliment eachother well if Hackett stays healthy. It doesnt say much for what the Panthers think of Dewayne Jarrett though. They got Hackett at a steal of a price if you ask me, low risk high reward signing.

That's a pretty low price. Protects against him getting injured.

I agree with Phil, solid signing, if it works out, helps Smith a lot.

Just think if they can revive Mushin Muhammed and have Hackett playing good with Steve Smith this could be on of the top receiving teams in the league. Delhomme isn't a bad QB since he was hurt all year last year.

I'm probably the only one, but I think they should stay with Moore as the starting QB. He looked decent when he was forced to start.
