CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Carolina Panthers guard Jeremy Bridges has dropped the appeal of his misdemeanor assault conviction.

Attorney George Laughrun said Bridges made the decision when he learned he would face no further penalties from the NFL.

"He just wanted to go ahead and get this behind him and move on," Laughrun said Tuesday.
