Jauron quiet on reports of new 3-year contract extension

Quote:
ORCHARD PARK — If Dick Jauron has been rewarded with a new contract extension, the Buffalo Bills coach certainly doesn't like talking about it.

Jauron, on Monday, sidestepped questions for a second consecutive day since several reports surfaced that he's agreed to a new three-year deal that locks him up through 2011.

“I think that you're all aware of our organization's policy, and we don't talk about contracts,” Jauron said.

To be honest it would be a Dumb move on ralph's part to retain Jauron before he wins a playoff game. or even manage a winning season.

I totally agree. What a succer's move on the part of their GM. The Bills get a good 7 game start to the season and give this guy an extension without even seeing what he does for the rest of the season??

He has already been there a few years and hasn't even made the playoffs once. I would wait until the end of the season to see where the team is before extending him.

Buffalo doesn't have a real GM, and Ralph is the one who calls the shots on the coaching staff anyway.

The deal was made because Retaining Jauron is cheaper than finding a Real HC who can take the team to the next level.

is jauron that much of a hot commodity for other teams that the Bills had to do this? If his contract ends at the end of this season, why not just give him an incentive-laden contract for the next few years that pays him more based on wins and playoff wins ........... ???

why give him a contract at all. he's had 1 winning season his whole career (13-3) he has 3 7 win seasons. and just as many 4-5 win seasons. Being his specialty is Defense he has never coached a top 10 defense as either a HC or DC. he coaches the Tampa 2 although he has never coached with any of the "masters" of that defense. which is why he's easily the worst coach to ever drive a cover-2 defense.

Until he wins a playoff game I see NO reason why any team would want to pay him to be their HC.

I totally agree, why would you extend Jauron now when the jury is still out on him?

if the Bills miss the playoffs after the start they've had he should be fired... now the option doesn't even exist!

you extend him now because it's gets more expensive if he manages his 2nd winning season of his career.

nobody at One Bills Drive actually cares about winning.

Hey....He went 13-3? With the Bears? Seen their record since?

3 7 win seasons....plenty of NFL HC's who can't say the same.

I have no idea as to what Ralph should do.....except see 2008 out.

yeah he was the bears coach for the previous 2 season where he went 6-10 and 5-11 and the following 2 seasons where he went 4-12 and then 7-9 lovie took the team and almost instantly took them to the superbowl.

sure there are alot of HC's who don't pan out and never get 8 season at Head Coach, but of coached who stick around as HC in this league for 5 + years manage more than 1 non-losing season.

Yeah wait till after 2008 to make the call on Jauron. if he wins a playoff game then yeah keep him, otherwise he's just a terrible coach who happens to get lucky once in a blue moon. the 2001 NFL season was pretty topsy-tervy almost as random as the 2008 season is panning out to be.
