oh I'll totally admit I was wrong here. This is quite possibly the first Genuinely good move The Bills, and Ralph Wilson since he had to sign that bonus check, have made since Promoting Bill Polian to GM.

it's quite remarkable that the Bills think highly enough of him to make him the 3rd highest paid wideout in the NFL... this is a guy coming from a down season after all.

but anyone that's watched him should know that he is a top 5 player at his position and that his quarterback play was consistently bad last year (and that includes JP, please don't start calling me a Trent hater again).

Thanks a lot, Ralph Wilson. Do you guys realize how making Lee Evans the 3rd-highest paid WR in the league raised the price of re-signing Greg Jennings? And then after Evans and Jennings and Fitzgerald are making huge bank, all the divas are going to need new contracts. Did it really have to cost so much? haha

I mean, the achievement gap through the first 4 years of the careers of Larry Fitzgerald and Lee Evans is huge. Fitzgerald has 2 pro bowls, two 1400-yard seasons, 2 10-TD seasons....

Lee Evans has 0 of all of those, though he's come close. However, he's clearly not in the elite receiver league of Fitzgerald at this point.

Yet both of them, after 4 years in the league, received VERY similar contracts... Fitz gets 4 years, 40 mil; Evans gets 4 years 37.5 mil. And the deals were signed within, what, 6, 7 months of each other? Evans will make 27 million through the first 3 years, while Fitzgerald allegedly will make 33, so if you look at it there, there is some difference, but overall, averaging 9-10 million per year for each of them, despite HUGE achievement gaps, is going to push the WR market a lot higher.

I know it was good for you guys to keep a very good player, but this contract was pretty bad for teams around the league. A guy like Evans, based on other WRs' contracts should probably have gotten about a 4-year, 30 million dollar deal.

Evans is nice, but top 5 at his position? That's a bit much

Evans has the physical tools and in-game ability of someone like Chad Johnson. It's just the Bills Offense has never been any good.

Evan's contract signed in 2008 will have nothing to do with 2009 Free agency contracts. Unfortunatly with the state the leauge is in there was no way the Bills would have Kept lee for anything less. And the same goes with any team looking to keep their #1 wr. you're either going to have to pay them like they're a top 5 WR or they go away.
