BUF Update: Bowen to have knee surgery; season likely done

Quote:
PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills rookie Alvin Bowen sustained a severe right knee injury in practice Friday, and coach Dick Jauron expressed fear that the linebacker could miss the entire season.

"It doesn't look like it's going to be a good one, but we'll wait and see, but anticipate that he's not going to be playing much football this year," Jauron said.

The Bills' fifth-round pick out of Iowa State, Bowen was hurt during 7-on-7 drills while pursuing fullback Jonathan Evans, who had just caught a pass at the left sideline. When Bowen pulled up to avoid contact, his right cleat stuck in the turf, his knee buckled and he fell awkwardly to the ground yelling in pain.

that's sad because Bowen was the most solid\best value of the bills draft this year...

better a young player who wasn't going to see the field than say... Angelo Crowell.

sucks for the kid, but he's got a long time to catch up.

it sucks, a bunch of my friends went to camp this past thursday and they said he was one of the sweetest pro athletes ever. he was all chattering about facebook w/ them and signed some stuff. everything i heard about him on the field looked promising too..

however, with all due respect glass....i think the best value might be steve johnson tho, hes gonna beat out people for a spot on the team(not saying bowen wouldnt have), and he adds height along w/ hardy to the wr core

who in the hell is he going to move ahead of?

there's no way in any point in the season he moves ahead of Reed, Parrish, or Hardy... it's just not going to happen.

hes been the most consistent wr in camp so far. im not saying right away, but i could see him ahead of reed/parrish by the end of the yr if the offense gets it **** together. then again that could stem from peters being or not being there

Steve Johnson is Practice Squad Fodder, we're only going to carry 5 Wide recivers and that is Evans, Reed, Parrish, Hardy (who would better serve this offense as a TE), and Jenkins because Jenkins is also a good Special Teams cover guy, If for some reason Johnson makes it as the 5th man the dude probably will never see the field. He's better off sitting on our practice squad incase of injury. we're already 3-4 deep on kr/pr and I honestly just don't see him contributing as a Special Teams cover person.
