The USA Today coaches' poll reinforced what most people around the country are probably thinking: The Big 12 will be top-heavy with some of the best football teams in the country this season.
Friday's release showed that the Big 12 has five teams ranked among the top 14 in the country. No other conference has that many teams ranked among the elite. The Southeastern Conference is next with four ranked among the nation's top 14.
