Textech Can Texas Tech breakout?

Interesting query here...can the Red Raiders under Mike Leach with an improving defense, a terrific veteran offense led by quarterback (and NFL prospect) Graham Harrell and all world receiver Michael Crabtree, and a big win on the resume from last year (Oklahoma, sinking their BCS title hopes in the process) shock the world and finally breakthrough winning the Big XII in the process?

As long as they remember that Michael Crabtree is amazing they'll be a very good offensive team. If the D can step it up they'll be tough.

I'll believe it when I see it. Beating Oklahoma was nice and all, but they also lost to mediocre Colorado. They have a team capable of pulling a shocker once in awhile, but they also have managed to lose to some teams they shouldn't have either (Okie State in 2005, Colorado in 2006 and 2007).

If Tarvaris Jackson fails as a QB this year, I'd LOVE to see Graham Harrell in a Vikings Uniform...

I've predicted a texas tech breakout season since he first broke out...

While A&M hasn't done well at all vs. Tech for awhile, I highley doubt they will. They play against cup cake teams at the start of the season and just walk through them. While yes they do beat A&M and OU among other good teams, they lose to teams like CU and OK State. Don't get me wrong, Tech is a good team but honestly, I don't see them as a contender for a BCS game or even the Big 12.

As good the strides made have been for this club, I just don't see it happening. Their system relies on their offense being consistent from beginning to end of games to beat the big boys like Texas and Oklahoma. Texas Tech will be a dangerous offensive team once again, but I don't see them getting more than 8-9 wins.

Exactly. They might beat Texas this year though. Texas will be lacking play makers on offense big time this year unless someone really steps up.

They'll have a really good offense again, but their D hasn't improved enough to give them much more credit than that.

See, you and Weston are both right on. Tech is a good team, there isn't any doubt about it but they are a 8-9 win a season good team. They can play big against the best teams and then turn around to look like they've never seen a football field before.

Colt McCoy stinks... TT should beat Texas this year.

Texas is this years Michigan.

I think they go one loss this year and head to the big 12 championship, though I'm not sure they win it
