Osu Ohio State QB Boeckman watching Pryor’s moves

Quote:
CHICAGO (AP)—Ohio State quarterback Todd Boeckman knows how strong a 1-2 punch at quarterback can be. He saw it firsthand when Florida’s Chris Leak and Tim Tebow carved up the Buckeyes’ defense in the 2007 BCS national championship game.

Boeckman, a fifth-year senior and returning starter, also knows he may have to similarly make room for highly touted freshman Terrelle Pryor.

“He’s a special player, a special talent,” Boeckman said on the second day of the Big Ten pre-season kickoff conference. “I haven’t seen what he can do on the field, so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do on Aug. 4.”

I think it would be a bad idea for Pryor to see action this year. Boeckman proved that he can lead the team to success. Bringing Pryor in just wastes a year of eligibility.

Bringing Pryor in gives us a chance to break him in, not to mention, with only three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, we could be needing him anyways if an injury were to occur.

Redshirting a talent like that gets us nowhere, and his experience could pay big dividends in the two years he'll be the starter...I'm assuming he's NFL bound after his junior campaign.

The same was said when Ronald Curry wasn't redshirted. That didn't turn out so well

It's been said about a lot of guys, but when you look at a few things in particular, namely the maturity of the kid (I've been around him, seems like a very down to earth guy for someone who's seen his name in more headlines than the combined populace of PSH ever will...and that was just last week), the role he'll be playing in this offense (change of pace), and the team he's got around him (stacked), it's a good situation for him to at least get his feet wet.
