Iowa Toledo Central Catholic RB commits to Iowa

Quote:
Iowa may have two grayshirt recruits from this past year's class set to join the team next year, but the first true commitment in recruiting class of 2009 came today from bruising Ohio running back Brad Rogers. As expected, the 5-foot-10, 230-pound Rogers, who attends Toledo Central Catholic High School, made the call to the Hawkeyes earlier today.

They compare this kid to P.J. Hill. I know we have people here from Ohio. Have any of you heard of or seen this kid? He looks like a bruiser from what I saw at Rivals.com.

That's pretty impressive for a guy his size. Does your offense use a fullback?

No, we have a single back, three wide offense, so they are probably looking at him as a feature back type of guy. We have a guy right now, Shonn Greene, that showed a lot of promise two years ago and he is 5'11" 225 and he has deceptive speed for a big guy. He went down to Jr college to get his grades up, but he is back now and hopefully he wins the starting job.

With that in mind, I see Rogers as the same type of rusher.

From what I just saw on the highlight videos...not a bad pickup. He seems to run through a lot of tackles at the high school level, and it's going to take some adjustment for him at the college level where that'll end pretty quickly, but he does have the size and runs with enough force that it'll be interesting to see what he can do in that offense.

I'm anxious to see how much this kid improves in his senior season when he is fully healed.
