Mich OG Boren leaves Michigan

Quote:
Offensive lineman Justin Boren received his release papers from the Michigan football team and issued a statement regarding his departure from the Wolverines.

Boren, the Wolverines' most experienced returning lineman, left the team on Monday, a day before the team's fifth spring practice under new coach Rich Rodriguez.

"I regret leaving behind my friends and teammates, but I need to stand up for what I know is right," Boren said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon. "I wore the winged helmet with pride, whether we won or lost, whether things were going well or times were tough.

Lord if I know what's going on down there. I think that Wolvy said it right; he doesn't want to learn a new system. With the spread offense, there will probably be more asked of the o-line. Must be he can't take it.

OR, is this yet another example of someone who might be coming down to division 2. There's several kids that do it every year.

To add, this can be for the better. Getting in more of RR's guys earlier for more experience. Ricky Barnum specifically.

there is certainly something to be said for "having your guys" esp when you need athletic guys to run the spread. It just doesn't seem like the "old guys" are leaving on great terms.

Yeah, it seems from the public comments, they're not leaving because they don't like the system, they're leaving because they don't like the environment, and that is something to worry about.

Mallett left because he was a classic pocket passer.....which doesn't fit in RR's spread offense.

Are you guys talking about people like Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington?

Really Boren is the first one to leave and say these types of things.. What's the big deal?
