Big Ten Rodriguez gives QBs equal reps; starter won't be named soon

Quote:
Rich Rodriguez watched his new team practice for the first time in full pads Thursday afternoon. He liked the intensity. He liked that he saw a little improvement in the players' grasp of his new system. But he didn't like the conditioning level.

"I think they felt in practice that our conditioning still has a long way to go," he said. "We thought we were in shape, but not quite."
As for the quarterback competition, Nick Sheridan, Steven Threet and David Cone all got equal reps, Rodriguez said.

He said there is no leader yet to start in the fall, and that one won't be determined until the end of spring practices or maybe even until August. He said all three were learning the system and extremely coachable.

"It's a complicated position in any system, but particularly ours," he said.

Well, Cone doesn't look like the the type to be able to run that offense and Threet just came over from GT. Is he even eligible to play this year?

Wolve, be honest, do you think any of these guys give you a shot to win more than 7 games this season?

Looking at our schedule.. Yes..

If Threet is what some of these people say he is, they can win their 4 OOC games and find a way to beat 3 big ten teams.

I was curious about our schedule for the upcoming season and I only see 3 games that we could lose.

Aug. 30 UTAH
Sept. 6 MIAMI (OHIO)
Sept. 13 at Notre Dame
Sept. 27 WISCONSIN*
Oct. 4 ILLINOIS* (HC)
Oct. 11 TOLEDO
Oct. 18 at Penn State*
Oct. 25 MICHIGAN STATE*
Nov. 1 at Purdue*
Nov. 8 at Minnesota*
Nov. 15 NORTHWESTERN*
Nov. 22 at Ohio State*

The bolded ones I see us losing. I like the fact that instead of a bye we get to play a good MAC team.

Wisconsin's still better than you. Illinois has Juice Williams back and improving talent, don't sleep on Penn State in Happy Valley, and really...Michigan State, rivalry game? You're really willing to count that as a sure thing?

MSU, heck ya. It's a mother/daughter rivalry that I usually win.

Usually, yes, but I think Michigan State can do some damage next year with your half of the rivalry having a down year and a new system to adjust to.

Wow I'd switch ND and Minnesota with Wisconsin and Illinois.

I think Wisconsin and Illinois are WINNABLE provided we find out what team we have.. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

But just sitting back I think besides those two and Ohio State, the rest are ones we should very well win or at least be in.
