Cincy QB Grutza breaks leg, needs surgery

Cincinnati quarterback Dustin Grutza could be out a lot longer than the original best-case guesstimate of four weeks.

Bill Koch reports in The Cincinnati Enquirer that Grutza, who broke his right fibula against Oklahoma, also sustained damage in his ankle and will require surgery. There's still no official word on how long he might be out.

Jones isn't going to be the starter. Brian Kelly said yesterday that he wasn't ready to start from a physical standpoint (Tommy John surgery in the offseason) and that he doesn't have the spread offense down yet. Tony Pike will be the starting QB this coming weekend against Miami (Ohio).
