Questions being raised about Rutgers stadium expansion

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Rutgers University may be looking at alternative options to fund its football stadium expansion as state leaders express doubts about raising the money to pay for it.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine and state Sen. Raymond Lesniak had originally vowed to raise $30 million for the $102 million project. But both have been reporting obstacles, with Lesniak saying he doubts more than $10 million will be raised.

Sounds like they have a mess there. You have to wonder if they have their priorities straight right now.

I thought it was interesting also that a Reverend would use language like this....

The Rev. M. William Howard, the board's chairman, acknowledged that the university may have to take on the full cost of the project.

"We're looking at everything. I mean, Jesus, that's what prudent leadership is required to do," Howard said.

I've been driving by the stadium a lot lately...they've broken ground and don't appear to have made much progress the last couple months. It's not going to be finished by the time late August comes around...and it's going to be a colossal eyesore all season long.

There's also this whole mess with Schiano and how he's getting paid lately...I swear I'm glad I'm outta there in one year.
