Heisman Louisville

What kind of impact does the hiring of Ron English have on Louisville this year, and with Hunter Cantwell stepping in for the graduated Brian Brohm, do the Cardinals have an outside shot at winning the Big East crown this year?

English will improved the defense. Cantwell has enough starting experience that he should be ok this year. Losing Urrutia, Douglas and Barnidge will hurt the offense though.

Outside shot? Very. Rutgers, USF, Pitt and WVU will all be tough again, so I think this is a rebuilding year for the Cards.

Rutgers will be good, but who replaces Rice's production there? USF loses both their quality corners, but they return Selvie...who probably makes their corners better anyways. Pitt...eh..., and WVU with Bill Stewart...it's one thing to bring a team together for a bowl game after your coach screws you, it's quite another to be the guy all year long and do it long term.

Well, I was going to say Jabu Lovelace replaces Rice, but he appears to be moved to QB. He did a good job in limited action last year.

USF will still be tough on defense.

Pitt welcomes back most of their starters from the #7 defense in the nation. They have Pat Bostick, LaSean McCoy, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Derek Kinder and Oderick Turner back on offense.

Most of the league will still have trouble stopping the WVU offense, no matter who the coach is.

My Money is on Rutgers. I am assuming Hunter Cantwell will be the starter next year I do not see him doing much next year succeeding Brohm. Rutgers has the players, experience, and talent to win it. I would never count WVU out I just do not like them so I will not pick them

If anybody besides Dave Wannstedt was coaching Pitt, I would pick them every day of the week and twice on Sunday to win the BEast because they are more talented throughout the roster than any other team, but sadly, Wannstedt holds them back.

Lovelace was always a QB first and foremost...Schiano has taken a liking to running the Florida Gators 2006 QB role (if you will), one passer and one runner cycling around.

As far as replacing Rice, there's a three way battle for it...but I'm banking on Mason Robinson to take it. My buddy says that he's the fastest guy in the state, but my concern is whether or not he can be the workhorse. Kordell Young would have been the guy but since his name hasn't popped up anywhere, sounds to me like his rehab isn't coming along as ideally as liked.

I've seen Kordell play in High School and the guy is very explosive. I'd like to see him get healthy and step in there.

If L'Ville brings in more guys like Dumervile for English to work with, that defense will be downright NASTY.

English was a great hire for this team.. They need a face lift this year and there is no better man to give them that face lift than English. Look what he did year 1 at Michigan as Defensive Coordinator.

Agreed, English should make them a contender in this conference.
