Cincyu UC-OSU 2012 Game Moved To OSU

Quote:
The University of Cincinnati will not host the Ohio State football team at Paul Brown Stadium in 2012 as originally scheduled.
Article: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs...80136/-1/CINCI

OSU is paying UC one million dollars to move the game from Paul Brown Stadium, as originally planned, to Ohio Stadium.

I want to know why OSU officials didn't want the Buckeyes to play UC here in Cincy? What are they afraid of?

I love this quote from Brian Kelly:
Quote:
“You know how I feel,” said UC coach Brian Kelly. “I want to play them. My philosophy has always been that we need to play Ohio State. If they don’t want to play here, I’ll play them in a parking lot in Xenia.”

Common practice when playing smaller universities. OSU makes a boatload off of games that are here in Columbus, not so much on the road.

I understand that but they are paying a hell of a lot just to move the game. How much does OSU make for a single home game, on average?

Tickets average about $45, 100,000 seats roughly...that's about $4.5 million right there, not to mention concessions, parking (Traffic and Parking here makes a good bit just on that, and considering they've run up a couple million in debt over the last couple decades...)...

Not to mention even the impact on local businesses. It's incredibly hard to get food around here on gamedays because everybody's packed.

That's a nice chunk of change. I'm not complaining about the move, it would have been nice to play them here in Cincinnati again. At the same time, UC is making out pretty good financially in the deal and the money is going towards the football program.

Besides, beating the Buckeyes in their own house will make the win even sweeter.

Let's see here...2012 eh?

Buckeye SR quarterback Devontae Payne throws for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns, including two to SR receiver Jake Stoneburner, in a 35-0 rout of the UC Bearcats at The Horseshoe

I'm going to laugh incredibly hard if it comes true. Stoneburner won't be around five years, and Payne may look elsewhere if Pryor commits tomorrow.
