Wvu Noel Devine, 3 others arrested

Quote:
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia running back Noel Devine was among four Mountaineers' football players to plead no contest to misdemeanor battery charges after being arrested Thursday.

Also arrested were defensive back Eain Smith, 19; cornerback Brantwon Bowser, 20; and running back/receiver Jockee Sanders, 19, the Morgantown Police Department said in a news release.

Each player pleaded no contest in Morgantown Municipal Court, the police department said.

It was not immediately known whether the municipal court assessed any penalties against the players. A telephone message left Thursday night with the municipal court was not immediately returned.

And that right there is why Miami and FSU backed off the kid. He can't keep himself out of trouble.

I'm not going to condemn the kid for this one. College kids, get into a scuffle, all it takes is one person to overreact, and call police. I mean, if facts come out that this was some ultraviolent brawl, then it becomes a different story.

I'll take the wait and see approach on this one.

No worse than what Chris "It's good to be Chris Rainey" Rainey said.

Kind of funny when they have a rap for that kind of player.

Thats too bad. This kid is loaded with talent. Sure it is only a misdemeanor charge, but I hope he doesnt go and throw his career away on this kind of thing.

Miami has a rep for it which they will never shake but the truth is we haven't had a lot of players getting into trouble off the field ever since Dennis Erickson left in 1993 (now that guy ran a loose ship). But that should tell you just how much of a concern his character was for those schools.

Then they realized that it happened during the Fiesta Bowl, so they let them all go.
