Haha, I guess USC decided they didn't want to end the quarter without points, so they threw a strike to the end zone on the last play.

Typical USC start so far. The underdog has hope, a few mental gaffes and various sloppines. More nickel and diming, not much attacking... then when they try to go downfield, they do. When they need a run, they get it. When the QB fumbles, the RB picks it up and runs for a first down. It's starting to pick up.... a little earlier than it did two weeks ago. I feel it.

typical slow start by the Trojans-they'll get it going (they are already up 4, but I'm talking big time lead)

USC got robbed of a TD on a fumble return. The ball was definately jarred loose on the way down and the officials didn't review it.

Good thing about cheering for USC is that in situations like this, you can be pretty confident that they'll just go and get the TD anyway. (-:

Well there's that TD they should have had several minutes ago... 3:00 left. Any bets that USC adds another score before halftime, even though they have no timeouts and Nebraska is about the get the ball?

USC's offense looks sluggish, a lot of it has to do with their inability to run the ball..

USC definately looked to have brought out their C game tonight... but I think a lot of it had to do with play-calling as well. They had great match-ups downfield against the Nebraska CBs and they seemed hesitant to attack. The whole mode of the offense was much more conservative than usual, and they failed to get into a rhythm... the Nebraska front 7 did do a very good job of keeping USC from mounting a consistent run attack, but they still averaged better than 4 yards per carry, so it's not like they faced unmanageable situations. For me, I think it was mainly the lack of that edge, the killer instinct that pushes the ball down the field and sets the tempo for the game. But I'll take an 18 point win over a top 25 team any day.

well, that ypc was only solid after they starting getting yards late in the game. Moody and Washington broke a couple of long runs when they were trying to run clock.

Booty looked good when he got time. The USC defense looked GREAT. I expected this game to be a shootout, but USC dominated the Nebraska offense.

i think the team will get better and better, but i was disappointed with their offense tonite, maybe i've been spoiled and its not what i'm accustomed to seeing from the Trojans

I actually wouldn't say their defense looked "great." It looked very good, but I was concerned about their inconsistency in stopping the runs up the middle. I know they had a DT injured, but they look vulnerable to being pounded on the ground by a better team.

Also, it's hard to evaluate their secondary, sicne they weren't tested until late, but once Nebraska finally went downfield, there were several instances of guys being left open. Also, they're DEs... I expected a better pass rush from those guys. They're supposed to be upper echelon.

I know it sounds like I'm being tough on a team that beat a ranked opponent by 18 (by the way, judos to the oddsmakers, right?), but I guarantee you that if USC played a top 5 team the way they played tonight, they would lose by double digits... I mean, not including ooverrated teams like Notre Dame (-:
