News Landry expected to play again

OWINGS MILLS, MARYLAND (TICKER) —Baltimore Ravens safety Dawan Landry on Monday was released from the hospital one day after he was involved in a frightening collision in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

Landry, who was taken off the field on a stretcher and diagnosed with a spinal cord concussion at the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma unit, was resting at home Monday and is expected to play again this season.

The injury occurred with 26 seconds left in the half, when Landry tackled Browns running back Jamal Lewis. Landry remained on the field motionless as Ravens’ trainers attended to him.

He was laying on the field for a good 10 minutes. Everyone who cared was holding their breath. Even the Browns players.

He could be back in a few weeks but it's not likely. He will see the field this year again at some point and all things considered this is very good news.

It hits everyone, because from a player standpoint, it could be themselves or their best friend. From a fan perspective, you never want to see it happen to your favorite player. It hits me as a Redskins fan, because Dawan is the brother of one of our players, and both are great people and great players. Good luck to him in his recovery.
