By playing the 3 other pre-season games? I'd rather just take knees and wait for the next game, instead of further risking a pointless injury in a pointless game.

There is plenty of training camp and plenty of pre-season left to evaluate players. In a normal game, we would have taken a knee anyways. No need to risk injury.
