Discuss Falcons remain in thick of playoff chase

Even in the unpredictable world of the NFL where a team’s fortunes can change dramatically on a yearly basis, the success of the Atlanta Falcons this season is remarkable.

This is a team that began the season with a first-year coach, a rookie quarterback and was still reeling from the criminal activity of its former franchise quarterback, Michael Vick.

Yet as the calendar turns to December, the 8-4 Falcons remain very much in the playoff mix - something that seemed impossible in September.

“Our team has been growing every week,” safety Lawyer Milloy said following Sunday’s 22-16 victory in San Diego. “We showed our progression. It’s been a steady progression even through some of our losses. We are a team that is getting stronger as the season goes on.”

yes, all of this talk about how great the NFC East is and the Falcons may end up preventing ANY wild cards making it from the NFC East because the Bucs and Panthers look like they are headed towards playoff spots so the falcons may end up grabbing the 6th spot ...............

The NFC South and AFC East both play the two terrible west divisions. That is a lot of the reason we are seeing three divisions without a single losing record this year.

along with 3 divisions that are struggling just to have ONE team above .500 ........... yes, the disparity in division strengths is pronounced this year ................

I never would have guessed the NSouth would be the toughest division in the league this season...I'd say overall since the re-alignment, the NFC South has been the strongest division, top to bottom.

I picked the Falcons to get the Wildcard, but that was when I was thinking Carolina would begin to falter. We'll the next two weeks are totally crucial for this battle for the South.
