How are the linebackers looking in camp? I want to say the Giants have a shot at the East crown, but they need to be able to step up and manhandle Vick when the Eagles fly in.

Say it if you want to, but it isn't even remotely close to happening without some major injuries or disappointments on the Eagles side. The Giants aren't a better team than they were last season, at this point they've likely gotten worse. Even if they could somehow manage to man handle Vick, I still like the rest of the Eagles roster minus a QB better than I do what the Giants are fielding right now. Eli is mediocre and doesn't have his crutch Plaxico anymore who used to create mismatch issues with the Eagles small DB's. This is why Eli hasn't beaten Philly since Plaxico left, Philly is 5-0 in their last 5 meetings with NYG since Plax left. This year with Asomugha, DRC and Asante covering your receivers while Trent Cole, Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins are getting after Eli behind an offensive line that has grown weaker over the last 3 years, I don't see how you figure that Eli will get anything done against this team at all. Defensively I don't think the Giants have a snowballs chance in hell of stopping PHilly's offense. In those same last 5 meetings the Eagles have averaged 34 points per game against the Giants including 2 games where the Eagles scored over 40. The Eagles offense is growing while the Giants defense seems to be heading in the other direction.

Philly looks great on paper, but I will caution everyone not to give them the Lombardi trophy just yet. A lot can happen in a season and considering the fact that Vick has always been injury prone, and was injured twice last year, whos to say he won't go down again? The Eagles offense would be nowhere near as dangerous without him. Theres no denying that fact. They are nearly unstoppable if Vick is in the zone and healthy. It seems to me that Andy Reid and the Eagles are making their final push for a Super Bowl victory with all the big moves they have made. The Giants have traditionally been a team to build through the draft so while eveyone has been freaking out about them not making blockbuster trades and signing high profile FAs, i have been patiently waiting for the season to begin. The Giants have a lot of talent and potential on this team, and perhaps even more importantly EXPECTATIONS ARE LOW. Anytime this is the case, the Giants usually have a solid year.
And Phil continue to doubt Eli and the Giants. We have had the debate about Eli, but I will just say this, if our WRs stay healthy this year this offense will be dangerous. I will admit that the Eagles look downright scary and will probably take the division if they stay healthy, but the Giants have always been a better underdog than a favorite.

I dont mind a lot of the stuff you're saying because how your team looks going into the off-season, but don't order your Super Bowl Champions t-shirts and hats yet. Yeah the Eagles will probably take the division and look a lot better than the Giants, but like Joe said, we've always been better as the underdog. And for the record, Eli is not mediocre. Just because he doesn't have Plaxico doesn't mean its his lack of offense that prevents the Giants from beating the Eagles. You mentioned the ridiculous amount of points the Giants defense gives up, and that's been the story for us most the time. Defensive breakdowns, and as of last season, special teams as well. The Eagles are better than us in almost every category except WRs, but like you said, the defense has been declining, but I have optimism for a healthy bunch this year.

Let's get this train back on the rails. The Giants have a pretty good looking corps of LBs: Boley, Goff and Sintim and then you add in Greg Jones and Mark Herzlich and I think once they find their three starters, they will be tough to handle. I think the Giants will be alright on D.
