Before the combine, who do you think the Dolphins are targeting with the #12 overall pick in the draft this year?

I'd love to get ahold of Bryant but if he's gone at 12 we'll trade down or take a DE. Hopefully we can get some depth at LB in the later rounds. Also if Dez Bryant is gone I'd like to get our hands on Gilyard

They're going to need to pick up someone to replace Joey Porter's production.
And how mad are they they let Matt Roth go for nothing after what he did in Cleveland in the latter stages of the season?

I'm very confident that Cameron Wake can step it up this year, I don't see us missing Porter too much this year. We won all three games that he missed last year, and he ended the year with only 41 tackles.
We faired much better when Wake had extended playing time. Is he Joey Porter? No. Can he make a comparable impact? In my opinion, yes.
About Roth. Now with the news of Porter, yes we are pissed lol. Roth should have had a bigger role in our defense, and if he did we would have seen much of the same results Cleveland did

So if I'm reading you right game, Dez Bryant's there, take him?
Would be a big get for Chad Henne, great downfield presence, can't double Ginn and Bryant both going deep right?

If Bryant is there at #12, I agree he should be taken. If he's not there and Rolando McClain is there we need to take McClain. If both are gone I hope we trade down to somewhere around 18 and grab Dan Williams from Tennessee. Williams will be a solid NT for the next 10 years.
Gilyard is too small for what we need. We need a physical receiver to complete the WR corp. We have too many small guys right now as it is. Dez Bryant, Arrelious Benn, Demaryius Thomas, Shay Hodge, Dezmon Briscoe, and Jeremy Williams should all be on the Dolphins Radar. There are 3, maybe 4 small receivers that will get looks but I hope we pass on because we need size. Guys like Gilyard, Taylor Price, Andre Roberts and Dexter McCluster (who's more of a utility player and can do a lot of things not just receiver).

I really think if he is there Rolando McClain is the easy pick here. I'm not counting out QB Hene is and always will be a bum but with injuries I'm not sure if anyone fits here without a trade down. Dez would be a great pick but I just do not see him falling this far. Golden, LaFell, and Gilyard do not fit there needs so if they do go WR it would have to be Williams or Demaryius Thomas. Both would be good picks IMO. RB is anther position I'm not throwing out. Williams said he is done after this year and Brown is a huge disappointment every year. If they jumped on Spiller no one would blame them. I could see them also trading down for Maurkice Pouncey ay C but 14 is way to high for that pick. I think they have a shot at McCoy but there DEs did a great job last year.

Gerald McCoy won't make it past the Tampa Bay Bucs if he's not taken 2nd in the draft. I think it could very well be Suh #1 and McCoy #2. Plus I don't see McCoy as a 3-4 DE. He's a 1-gap DT all the way and would fit very well with a 4-3 Tampa two type defense.
RB is a concern. Lex Hilliard did a nice job last year after Ronnie Brown went down but he's a change of pace type guy. Ronnie Brown is unreliable, injured every year but we have 6 RBs on the roster, 4 of which will be on the club next year so I think they may push RB off until next year. It's much easier for a RB to contribute their rookie year than it is just about any other position on offense.
Henne played very well last year and he got better as the year went on. Consider the lack of weapons he played with and what he did last year was even more impressive. No TE threat, no threat at WR a banged up O-line and a 32-year old RB and still he was 7-6 and almost threw for 3000 yards. Give the kid a legit TE and a big target at WR and let see what happens. I don't think the Dolphins will be drafting a QB this year.
As for Lafell, he has the size (6'3" 209 lbs) and good speed but he is an unreliable target. It's reported he has 8" or 8 1/2" hands...really small for a guy his size. If you watch his film he craddles all of his catches, doesn't catch the ball away from his body with his hands. He's had a lot of drops in his career and with small hands that problem won't go away.
Pouncy will go 2nd round IMO but I don't think the Dolphins have an interest in a C when they invested so much in Jake Grove. If any position on the O-line is addressed early or at all it's most likely Guard.

McCoy is not a sure shot top 5 by any means and is in a bad spot in this draft to be honest. The guy is the 3rd ranked D player on the board and I think 1 or 2 guys will pass him up by the draft. Again TB need a DT about as much as I need a whole in my head. Raheem Morris and Mark Dominik have a lot of picks this year I get it but DT would be a wasted pick IMO. DTs do not fill seats and it is not a dire position either. Moore is going to be great and there are 3 other guys that can play there at DT. It is very likely McCoy finds himself on the outside looking in early here. Suh right now looks like a solid #1 but they said the same thing about B. J. Raji, Glenn Dorsey, and yes even Branch at one point. Glenn was considered a sure shot 1 or 2 too and fell to 5th. Everyone said I was made not putting Raji in the top 5 and he fell to 9 where I had him to begin with. That is what happens to DT in the draft they fall. If Suh does not go 1 mark my word McCoy is in no way a top 5 pick so 12 is really not a far cry. I still think Suh could drop to 5 himself. SL and Detroit both have wholes all over so to say they are sure to go DT are really jumping the gun. Washington and Jax will not go DT regardless of who is there and like you mentioned McCoy is not a great 3-4 DE prospect so KC, Cleveland, and Buff will likely pass as well. Wost case pick for McCoy I say is the Giants at 15 and that is if Seattle can pass 2 times. They are not in dire need of a DT either but are a likely team of intent. I do not see it thou as they will likely be able to get a DT almost as good in the 2nd. Seattle has the picks to do anything they want here so I doubt they get stuck on any one player. Likely they trade away at least one of those picks anyway so that really is the wild card here. Oakland well you know they will not go DT which leave Denver and Miami. Both also 3-4 teams but would be more likely make the call given his talent. This is a very strong draft for DT and there is not a lot of separation between McCoy, Price, Odrick, Williams, and maybe Cody if he makes weight. At least 2 of which will fall to the 2nd likely more.
Henne is a bum. I was a huge fan of that Michigan team he was handed everything and he failed IMO. Maybe I'm just bitter but he is still a bum! Do not let the clown fool you like he did me. He will never be a great QB in the league or take you to the show. Miami had us dead to rights last year then Henne blew one in Buff then vanished again in Tenn as he always does when he season is on the line. Yeah OK 1st year starter it doesn't mean he doesn't suck. BP will have a BU plan trust me on that. Maybe not a 1st but Miami will make a move for some viable this year.

If you're looking to fill seats then Tampa Bay should draft Tebow. If you want to win games they better get a DT.

But that is just my point they do not need a DT. So it is a stupid pick. Anther DT will NOT help them win more games. If they did it it would be to sell more tickets. PERIOD.

You don't pick DL or OL to sell tickets. The Bucs have been after a DT for 3 years and they keep missing. Last year they went after the QB and in the process missed out on a couple of really good DTs. If you really think Chris Hovan (0.5 sacks last year) and Ryan Sims (1.0 sack last year) are the answer for a team that had a total of 3.5 sacks from it's top 4 DTs and was ranked dead last in the league against the run then I don't know what to tell ya.

All the cool kids are doing it, so I'm going to...not say QFT here...but DT is absolutely correct.
