Why is the defense struggling? Is it player personnel or was losing Monte Kiffin the biggest loss?

Well, for starters, no Tanard Jackson and no Angelo Crowell.

No real pressure from the ends, it's not too early to label Gaines Adams.

The scheme change will take some getting used to, but as long as the Glazers give Morris and Bates time to get the players they need, I think it'll be effective.

Currently there are just not enough play-makers to play an attacking style of defense.

I totally missed that Jim Bates was hired as your DC. What were the bucs thinking taking a defensive roster tuned for the tampa 2 and then throwing that out the window for a more agressive man-blitz scheme. Why they didn't promote from within for that spot is beyond me, Defense wasn't really the problem in Tampa. Offense was the issue, as well as Monte quitting, that was still a very decent cover 2 D.

To tell you the truth, they hired from within to promote Morris, and the scheme change is his idea, he just hired Bates to implement it.

yeah that's totally random... at this point chucky isn't looking so bad afterall.

I sure hope they are giving Morris a couple of years to get his system in place. If not then this could be a very short coaching stint with the Bucs for Morris.

Well, Buc fans expected a down year after the changes, which as you know included the departures of Brooks, Dunn, Galloway and June. I like Morris though, and I think Freeman will develop into a nice Roethlisberger/Flacco type, he's just not seasoned enough to do so right now.

Defense?

I'm in favor of it.

Unfortunately, not seeing much of it. In fact, I haven't seen defense going back 4 games into last season...Man did we fall off the wagon quick..The scheme is different, but not so much so, there should be this big of a difference..this is strictly speaking a talent issue, they didn't address it in the off season. The Glaziers wont spend money, and haven't since they bought Man U. They need to sell the team to Eddie Debartalo and fellow investors, and be done with it. Until then, my pre-season prediction of 3-13, seems very possible. :nono:
